McDonalds Meal - Still in Good Condition after Six Months

A woman in New York says she bought a McDonalds Happy Meal six months ago and it is still intact after six months on a plate at room temperature.

Is the story true?

If so - what the hell sort of chemicals are in that food for it to be so well preserved?

    Haha, even the germs don't want to eat a McDonalds! I guess its not surprising really. Cardboard doesn't rot. ;)

    This isn't that art installation the Mail are trying to dress up as a health scare story is it?

    I'm not sure I'd take nutrition and health advice from someone who exhibits half eaten burgers for a living

    this is such a non story.

    what are crisps? they are basically chips. and they dont mould either.
    its all about the cooking methods and conditions they are stored in.

    bread doesnt moult unless there is some humidity it will just go hard.

    even apples, if they are stored correctly (good air circulation) they can last 6 months from harvest, stored incorrectly they will last a week.

    Cobblers! On C4's "Food - What goes in your basket?" they do experiments to show food decaying over long periods ("The rotting room"). When they did the fast food one it all decayed pretty much as you would expect. The pizza went furry quickest, but none of it lasted long at all.

    Judging from the photos, i would say that the food was put in a convection dryer to remove all the moisture then stored in dry conditions, in normal conditions cooked food will decay in a matter of days.

    It's just an excuse to 'McDonalds bash'.

    Obviously it's 'unhealthy' food, as are all takeaways.. which is why it's a treat. Clearly if people are silly enough to consume it with any great regularity then that's just different.. but some of us like to enjoy the occasional a McDonalds as a treat.. I know it's crap food, and that's the point.. Sugar, Monosodium Glutamate, Fat and Salt are suprisingly nice on the tongue. Funnily enough.

    People who get on their high horses about McDonalds can't say a thing unless they live on a Vegan diet.

    This story is a damp squib.

    Even McDonalds own spokesperson in the UK says their secret is lots of salt and fat.

    I have always had a big problem with food, everything has to be low calorie etc, used to be bulimic and anorexic. The thing is once in a while if I can work myself up to it I LOVE a macdonalds. Who shouldnt tell me I shouldnt? Makes people with eating disorders even worse!

    Its moderation, I cant help it if people are stupid and have it every week. Mines about every 2 months. I know this is a bit OT and not complaining about the DS posters. Just other greedy people that get ill and fat eating this shite which ruins it for the rest of us.

    i dont think the story has much relevance because once eaten, those fries and hamburgers get digested by the stomach acids. those acids are very corosive and the food gets broken down just like any other.

    I find it difficult to believe that the bun hasn't moulded within that time.
