...black cats, walking under ladders, stepping on pavement cracks, bad luck if you break a mirror...and the like..

Does it really bring you bad luck?

I know a blind man who always asks me if his packet of crisps is the right way up before he opens them.

Not sure what's going to happen if he opened them the wrong way up.

    Stupid, really.

I broke 2 mirrors within 3 days last month. The day after I broke the 2nd one I got my football coupon in.

The thing is though is do you turn them the right way up or just say yes.

If you keep saying yes then he may think he's very lucky as he always gets the bag the right way up :p

No, because I fail to see how mundane occurrences can have any tangible effects on life. It's all a load of old piffle.

I don't believe in them per se.

But I wont walk under a ladder, and never put shoes on the table, the latter one because, as a kid, mum would have a fit if I did as she said it was really bad luck.

The OH has a few I have to adhere to:

Whistling in the house, as it means no money will come in. (I think really it's because my whistling is tuneless and annoying:p)

Not going back into the house after leaving for a trip, even if just to the shops or a walk.

Sitting down just before leaving for a long journey.

No shaking hands over the threshold.

Don't give someone an odd number of flowers in a bouquet.

    But she's Russian, the're weird like that:D:D:p

Not at all but I still say 'touch wood' as a figure of speech (even though I don't actually bother to touch any wood).

No, because I'm not an idiot, nor suffer from any OCD like complaint.

I am, a little. Just smalls things, like black cats, and voodoo dolls.

Also, I occasionally get premonitions, about different girls, which I will soon become romantically involved with. The various ways in which they behave, what she will make me do, how it will affect my life (usually crazy), and how she may take away my pain (somewhat like a bullet to the brain).

Though, maybe i'm just living life the crazy way.

I avoid walking over three drains in the street. This can be VERY difficult on a busy London street, and sometimes I am forced to walk over three drains, and it really upsets me! I've been doing this since 1992 when a friend's sister told me it's bad luck to walk over them. Bloody stupid I know, but I can't help it!

I salute magpies, touch wood and don't clap shoes together (apparently it causes arguments) my mum on the other hand has lists of things you should or shouldn't do because it's bad luck.

Sometimes I do touchwood, I have a thing about touching things a certain number of times; it tends to flare up when I'm nervous which is a bit oddly weird.

I make up my own ones to people who I know are superstitious and have fun watching them squirm.

That one does have some sense about it, in case some dozy bugger drops something onto your head
