Is everything copy protected on the YouView box?

I was delighted to finally get the record facility on the internet channels. thanks to the latest software upgrade yesterday.
Then I did a little experimenting to try to backup a recording to DVD using a scart cable between the YouView box and my Panasonic recorder. All I got was a message saying that a copy protect signal had been detected and that recording was not possible.
I thought this might just apply to the HD channels. I then repeated this with the SD channels and exactly the same message appeared!
Surely, it can't be the case that everything on the YouView box is copy protected? Has anybody managed to back up anything from this box?
