Would you be a customer at your place of work?

I just wondered if you would use your company that you work at as a customer?

I work in a rehabilitation unit that is connected to a care home, ( I would send a relative to my unit but not the care home next door) and that's because the staffing levels are so poor.

On my unit we have 1 nurse, 2 rehab assistants a physio and occupational therapist with a social worker to add in the mix. We only have a maximum of 10 patients who's age range is from 22 to 104 (the youngest we have had was a 22 year old stroke victim and the oldest was a 104 year old with a fracture )

    Hell no!

The previous firm I worked for I still do use despite them making me redundant.

This ties in with the long-running thread about unseemly things happening at people's places of work.

    Speak of the devil...

Yes, cause the Management think more of the customer than the staff

No, but only because the company I work for doesn't sell things to individuals. If I moved to another company that needed something in that type, then I'd have no hesitation in recommending them.

I get one of the flagship products for free, so yes I am a customer of them. It seems daft to me to spend good money on something similar from a competitor.

Yet I know of colleagues who do exactly this.

I work freelance but no, I rarely buy the publications I work for. I only get copies as complimentaries when I'm in them - and most of the time, give them away cos they clutter up the place, otherwise.

When I was a teacher, I worked in some schools I'd be happy to send my own kids. And others.... not a chance!

Very occasionally....though I do buy off our suppliers, get a better deal from them direct rather than through the company, that said if I didn't work for the company I wouldn't get the deals from the suppliers.

    Yes, I would.

I wouldn't if I was still with the earlier company, though. It put more energy in lining its pockets quickly than in protecting their clients' interests that could benefit the company in a long run.

The company I'm with now is shrewd enough to realise that if you do all you can without compromising the company to protect a client's interests, you'll reap a healthy reward annually for years to come.

I have been a patient in my own hospital, and my ex boyfriend has too

Yes I would but as I am quite a senior nurse I wonder if I got the experience other patients would

I work in a school, would I have gone there as a pupil or send my kid there? Not in a million years. Dreadful place, the standards are revolting.

I doubt it. Aircraft computers and displays are not exactly everyday purchases of mine.
