Any danger of getting BBC4 HD and BBC news HD soon,?

after all we were the first to switch of analogue in the uk, and the last to get a full Freeview HD service.

You're not alone in this. There are quite a few main transmitters and most relays that don't get this MUX, incluiding here from the Dover transmitter. If you haven't got these channels yet then you won't get them (at least from Freeview). :(

Due to UHF channel availability it is not possible to equip every transmitter with the mux. And even on some of those that do transmit it there are power and/or radiation pattern restrictions that mean in some places it can be difficult to receive properly even if every other mux from the same transmitter comes in loud and clear.

Chances are those transmitters that don't currently have the extra mux will never get it. There may be a point sometime in the future when all muxes change over to the DVB-T2 format used on the HD muxes which would increase the capacity on the system and perhaps allow a full changeover to HD everywhere. But don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen!

Sounds similar to DAB, I think.

Caradon Hill has that T2 mux, but Redruth doesn't appear that it ever will. When BBC DAB launched down here it took years for it to appear on Redruth too if I remember correctly.

If you can put up a satellite dish there's always Freesat

Actually you weren't the first to switch off analogue in the uk.

that would be a small village in south wales; and the first reigon to switch over was ITV Border. the Westcountry didn't switch for another year.

*and* even within the Westcountry Redruth wasn't first, Devon's transmitters went first, Redruth was second to last (and Caradon Hill was last)

If PSB3 is configured like COM7, there is potentially room for CBeebies/BBC Four HD in the future, alongside BBC One HD, BBC Two HD, ITV HD, Channel 4 HD, CBBC HD*, BBC One+1* and Film4+1. But no room for BBC News HD.

    * subject to the BBC Executive's proposals being approved by the BBC Trust.

In St Ives I get those from Caradon Hill - I also get Motors TV from there - had to manually add Com 7.
