So, series 6 set up the whole "Doctor Who?" mystery and the fields of trenzalore and everything. At the time, everyone assumed this would be the 50th anniversary story. Then the Daleks jumped on the bandwagon but everyone seems to have forgotten lately about this! But, this year seems to be all about who Clara is! Anyone else find this a bit of a coincidence. This year is all about Doctor Who? But now, its also about Clara Who? Connection?

wellllll I suppose it all must tie in somehow really... who knows maybe Clara is the Valeyard and the Doctors name will be revealed as Clara Oswin Oswald.... Maybe Clara dying all the time yet continuing to live in a different time is nothing more than a reflection of the Doctor's own life... The Valeyard was supposed to be between the Docs 12th and last life but surely that regeneration that caused DT's Doctor to exist twice must really count as a regen???
I dunno., we could drive ourselves mad really...
Series 6 was the set-up for asking the question, but since the question is the name of the series itself, that could be seen to be enough for now.
It's undoubtedly something that Moffat has a plan for, and is probably going to be his swansong, but if he's continuing for a series after this one, he's probably happy to leave it like that for now.
For the record, I don't think there's going to be an answer, I can't see how there can be one. There will be a reveal as to why the question is important, though.
I can't imagine that Moffat would be stupid enough or big-headed enough to think that he should reveal The Answer.
Maybe the Doctor is Clara Oswin Oswald Wibbly wobbly timey wimey etc.
We know who he is, he's the Doctor, what else is there to know?
I don't think anyone thinks he's actually going to reveal his name. And I'm pretty sure it will be this year! Surely the 50th is the year for such a story!
Was just about to say this myself!
It looks like it's going this way!
Christ, I hope not. Not again.
Did you even watch the show? Series 6 was basically all about the Silence trying to stop the question from being answered. Then at the end, Dorium says that all of that is still waiting for the Doctor and that the question is "Doctor Who". Then we get the Daleks have their memory of him wiped and them all shouting the same question.
It's going somewhere.
Yes I did and have been since 1973 thanks!
Sorry if my own interpretation conflicts with yours!
Only time will tell, we're all speculating at the end of the day!
It's nothing to do with interpretation - you just missed something!
Not really, I'm just choosing not to over analyse and take it more at face value. I'm not disagreeing with anyone!
I simply think that the Doctor Who? story arc won't be as big as it is being speculated. I'm sure I'm wrong but at the end of it, anything discussed here is pure speculation!
Yes and oranges are the colour blue!
I'm not sure what to do with that really! I'm sorry I offend you!
Sorry I thought it was a nonsense speaking competition
Why are you being so aggressive and patronising toward me...have I deserved it is it some newbie initiation?
I have no idea what darthbibble's objection is - it could go both ways. Clearly, the Doctor's hope is that nobody will be asking about him, but we all know how obsessive the Daleks are. I've said right from the first broadcast of Asylum that I suspect that the Daleks will go nuts ripping apart the universe to find out who got one over on them - and that's why asking the question is so dangerous. Maybe Trenzalore is just the place where they make their final ultimatum, rather than being some kind of mystical place of truth.
I don't think for a second the question is going to be anything to do with his name. I mean that it could be a whole range of things - but no matter what, it'll be asked and not answered.
Don't know either. Seemed like an ok speculation to me. Even if we get a Trenzalore story one day it doesn't necessarily mean it will end with a big reveal. All the "Doctor Who"ing might be a big tease.
Welcome to the forum.
Can I add my welcome as well:) (although I should be welcomed after my prolonged absence).
I thought everyone is always speculating, nobody is right or wrong (unless it's me of course:p).
trust me Pull2Open, the feeling of being attacked isn't reserved to newbies... it happens to all members old and new... The trouble with Dr Who is that all fans feel a sense of ownership of the show like no other show seems to experiance...
I think there's two other factors at play too - one, that it's gone through so many changes of style through it's life, and even through series, that it has picked up lots of different fans, each of whom like different aspects of the show, and hate others. Also, it's approachable and not hard sci-fi - it'll happily breeze through resolutions, be vague as to how plot devices work, and leave plot holes dangling. Who has always been like that, nothing new here, but it leaves so much scope for interpretation that no two people will see things exactly the same way.
I would assume the Star Trek guys are worse — at least in Doctor Who there are so many inconsistencies and apparent contradictions that fans become used to some equivocation.
Which you would win hands down.
I don't mind heated debates/mild arguments on here (God knows I've been in a few), but you didn't add anything to the discussion at all, you just picked on a fairly new member.
As for Doctor Who?, we all know his name is never going to be revealed. That's the whole point. Anything else is just pure speculation and one persons theory is just as valid as anothers. Only Moffat knows the answer.
