When age did you realise you were gay? (Yes, I'm sure this has been done to death, but I'm just interested :))

I've known since I was 10. I had a right crush on Gary Barlow in Take That

    Hmm.

Well, considering that a (decidely weird) friend and I started a 'project' about men's bums when we were about seven, I would say on reflection that might have been an indicator.

Hmmn. I put a name to it in around 12/13 years old. I felt really different in primary school, I wanted to kiss the other girls during games of kiss chase and instinctively knew not to try to do so.

I would say around 7/8 - when I was playing out on my bike, I always used to show off by riding fast/doing wheelies to try and impress the older girls....loooooool

Well if you know that it's been done loads of times before and are interested, why didn't you just read the threads?

This is becoming a lazy forum, what with this one and the thread with just a number telling us to google it.

I think I was about 14. Maybe earlier... I had the biggest crush on Zack Morris on Saved by the Bell. :o

Hmm I don't know, I suppose at the same age that I would have started to be interested in girls (if I were straight)

I was around 13. I had read what I wanted in my 'More' magazine but I was really bored so read the articles I had left. One was called something like, 'How I knew I was a lesbian.' As I read I identified more and more with what the girl was saying until I completely identified. I started bawling my eyes out! 'I don't want to be a lesbain, I won't get married or have children!' The funny thing is, I vowed when I was younger never to have children and I didn't want to get married either! :p:D
I can see some signs looking back, like always looking at the womens underwear section in my mums catalogues :o:p or really liking watching St. Trinians. Lol.

Finally applied the label when I was about 13, although looking back, the indicators were there well before, I just never realised I was different in any way,

When you 'know' and when you 'realize' are two separate things, I think most gay people always know, the realization (which feels more like an epitome) comes much later.

I didn't realize till I was 14 or 15, but looking back have probably always known.

Ive always known in some capacity as i prefered to play with prams and dolls from a young age (ive been told) but from 13 onwards i used to sit next to one of the hottest guys in school in french class, probably a bit rapey but i used to brush against his leg with my hand "by accident" to get my kicks as it was 2 people to a desk and we had to sit close together.

To be honest, I couldn't pin point an exact age because I guess I've always known. I was different to other guys growing up, more effeminate, wasn't particularly interested in sport, hung around with the girls etc. I know how strange it sounds but straight guys were almost like a separate species to me for awhile when I was smaller.

From the age of eight being in love with David Van Day.

Apparently, I was about an hour old. Every time my mum tried to breast feed me I would scream and cry like a little monster until they gave me a bottle.

That I can remember - 12. I was at my friends house (he was 13) and he had this lesbian porn video. He started urmm..playing with himself and I worked out pretty fast what it meant that I was having a lot more fun looking at him than the film.

Now I think about it, the signs have always been there. I also used to play with dolls and hang around with the girls more than the boys :o My Nan even let me put her make up on when she was babysitting me.

I remember having a crush on my school teacher (male) when I was in primary school as he was a mixture of Hugh Jackman and Arnold Schwarzenegger (must have liked them muscle bound at that age).

Before that though I remember kind of hating on this girl in my primary school because she was going out with a friend of mine who I must have liked but didn't realize it at the time.I

I guess I realized fully I was "gay" when I read the word and what it meant in a sex education book my mum gave me (instead of telling me the birds and the bees) and that was about aged 12. My feelings for guys just developed as I did and I can't ever remember being confused by it either. I just liked boys, girls didn't even compute with me as anything but friends and even then it was a bit touch and go. By the age of 14 I had come out to my friends in school and even had a high school boyfriend (from a different school) and never got any abuse or homophobia for it.

I remember my first crush on a boy at school when I was around 12. But I didn't think much of it, thought it might just be a weird adolescent phase :D Seeing as it was an all-boys school, it became increasingly difficult to ignore the...urges :o

Lots of gay people I know say they knew from a very young age that they were at least 'different'. However, I genuinely did not have a clue until I was at least 12. Kept it to myself for a few years afterwards though.

What's that got to do with being gay?

I didn't used to think it had anything to do with being gay, but I've noticed this evening that others shared similar traits when younger.

    Honestly...

I can't remember the exact age, but I use to fancy my best friend in primary school, we were about 10/11. I wanted to be with him so badly :p
