Despite only being 35 minutes drive from my house, I haven't been to the Illuminations for many years.
A Hotel group – Britannia I think – were sending out offers. We’d been to Scarborough and stayed in one of the “teapots” at the top of the Grand Hotel. That was fun but the Grand Metropole was pretty awful.

Well I decided to have a first ever attempt of shooting a band performing this evening, unfortunately the lighting wasn't that great and the venue had more people than space, which didn't help matters in attempting to shoot. I was told by the venue owners that flash photography wasn't permitted, so had to make deal without.

Yes it was a pity but all negative shots I use to get constructive criticism, so that I can learn from my mistakes and improve, should it be trying different techniques or by going to different places to see what works best for the kit I have got .

Each one of these photos is great but the last one imo is beautiful.
The way that the people are spaced creates an element of intrigue. What is that huddle talking about?
I do enjoy your photos.
Thank you. I think the group in a huddle may be sharing a bag of chips.
I love Scarborough and Whitby
Thanks!
Yes, I spent a month in Blackpool one weekend.
Excellent shots there! This thread is really buzzing along nicely, the more the merrier and some fantastic stuff being shown.

Next time I will try a bigger venue
Nice
Pity about that
Went to Blackpool to see the Red Arrows today.

Some great shots there, considering the speed of those buggers.
Darkjedimaster. The circumstances are what define the shots. I think you captured the atmosphere really well.
Very nice shots there Waj, capturing at 1/4000 isn't easy.
