I'm not a massive fan of Steven Howard's writing (or The Sun for that matter), but he wrote a really nice tribute to Brian in today's paper. It touched upon how he helped offer some strength to his colleague Danny Fullbrook, who sadly died of the same illness three months ago, in his fight against cancer.
Far from it. Geoff Horsfield was Gold's regular Birmingham City co-commentator at the beginning of last season, before Darren Carter took over from him a few months into the campaign not long after Geoff had attracted some criticism for heavily criticising certain Blues players (I forget which ones) in a particular game. Geoff seems to have returned to the role this season, having already done most Blues games so far in 2012/13, since Carts resumed his playing career at Cheltenham Town.
Danny Kelly presenting Kick Off: Champions League Live with Ray Parlour from Stamford Bridge
UEFA Champions League Group Stage

Celtic v Benfica - Peter Martin
Manchester United v Galatasaray - Dom McGuinness
Chelsea v Juventus - Mike Ingham + Graeme Le Saux
Man Utd v Galatasaray - Ian Dennis
Haven't heard anything from Celtic yet, though I didn't hear the start of the show.
Ipswich v Wolves - Rob Nothman
Leicester v Burnley - Steve May
Sheff Wed v Huddersfield - John Acres (Paul Walker + Kevin Kilbane on Sports Extra)
Mike Sewell and (I think) Steve Froggatt commentated on the England womens match earlier for Sports Extra.
Be interesting to know how they're deciding which matches get 2 commentators, 2 in Madrid last night but only 1 in London this evening.
All Sat 12:45 PL games have had 1 comm. Maybe the lower profile CL game will get 1 comm each week?
Yeah I'd noticed that as well, I wonder if it's because they've been 'smaller' matches. Guess we'll find out next weekend when Arsenal play Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime.
BBC Radio Leeds FM and DAB*, and official Huddersfield Town website host:Gareth Jones at Hillsborough
Sheffield Wednesday versus Huddersfield Town commentator:Paul Ogden summariser: Kieran O'Regan
Drive Time with Danny Kelly and Darren Gough, followed by Georgie Bingham presenting Kick Off alongside Stewart Robson
UEFA Europa League Group Stage
CS Maritimo v Newcastle United - Graham Courtney
BSC Young Boys v Liverpool - Graham Beecroft
Tottenham Hotspur v SS Lazio - Ian Abrahams
Apparently Danny was a late sub for Adrian Durham on Drive Time, with Georgie subbing for Danny on Kick Off.
In addition, John Roder has posted this on his blog: "Looking forward to returning to talkSPORT this month, after a very enjoyable Euro 2012 for them, as part of a manic week of seven commentaries in seven days." I hear he'll be doing commentary on Tottenham v Lazio in the Europa League for them next Thursday.
Yes, the plans I heard about last week have clearly changed. John hasn't changed the blurb on his website though, he's still listed to return to talkSPORT so it will be interesting to hear where and when he turns up. Presuming he won't be working on Premier League games, perhaps he might be involved in their League Cup coverage rather than/as well as that of the Champions League or Europa League.
