My fave simpsons episodes were often the ones with the two sisters in, i found them hilarious. The one when Selma marries sideshow Bob or when she takes Bart and Lisa to Duff Gardens (duff beer for you, duff beer for me, i'll have a duff you have one too!) i also love the very early one with Ms Botz the babysitter bandit hehehe

If you kids can't keep your hands to yourself, I'm gonna turn this car around, and there'll be no Cape Canaveral for anybody. (Nelson smacks the back of his head). THATS IT! BACK TO WINNIPEG!
Bart On The Road (Favorite Simpsons Episode)

    In terms of Simpsons episodes:

Bart vs. Australia - possibly my absolute favourite, genuinely a laugh in every line. Ridiculously funny.

Are you a fan of "Knifey Spoony"?

For me (though they often change)

    Lisa's Wedding
Stark Raving Dad (the fantastic Leon Kompowski)
    Like Father Like Klown
    Behind the Laughter
Homer at Bat (with many great baseball players)

    So many others contend.

Family Guy started quite well but got lame and lazy quite quickly.

Flaming moes is my absolute favourite.

I also liked the episode where Lisa gets married.

The episode where its spilt into 3 parts where Lisa, bart and Homer have their own story line. Marge cuts off Homer's finger.

I also loved the Episode where homer turns into a doughnut.

Sorry to bump an old thread.

    The Simpsons:

    Cape Feare
    Last exit to Springfield
    Secrets of a successful marraige
    Homer's enemy
    Bart of darkness
    Homer badman
    Who shot Mr Burns
    Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily
    Marge vs the Monorail
    Lemon of Troy
    The Springfield connection
    Itchy and Scratchy land
    The day the violence died
    22 short films about Springfield
    Homer the Smithers

Sorry, I couldn't narrow it down to five and I could go on and on.

    Family Guy:

    PTV
    I Dream of Jesus
    North by North Quahog
    Then there were fewer.
    Road to the multiverse
    Road to Germany

I don't understand these comments about Family Guy not being as funny as it was. In my opinion the new episodes are vastly superior than the first couple of seasons. :D

While the new episodes of The Simpsons are just plain abysmal  (haven't watch them in a good while though).

    Simpsons - not a fan.

    Family Guy

    1. The one in which Peter is obsessed with the song "Surfin Bird" by the Trashmen.

2-5. Any four other Family Guy episodes - they're all great.

Has a single person yet listed a Simpsons episode from the last fourteen years as their favourite? It's clearly not even nostalgia at work, because no one seems to prefer anything from seasons 10-14 as favourites and they are 10years+ old!

I'm not sure about my top five, but one of my favourites is Simpson Tide. Some great quotes in that episode.

Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot and a communist, but he is not a porn star!

The bit where Bart is singing Do The Bartman.

Ralph: That is so 1991. :D

So many Simpsons episodes to choose from. I don't watch Family Guy as religiously but I like the Stewie and Brian 'Road to...' episodes. And the one where the family moves to Texas. :D

I should say in advance I'm dreadful with episode titles -
    Simpsons episodes:
    1) The Barbershop Quartet episode is priceless. Even better Beatles parody than The Rutles. Also has my favourite joke of the shows entire run, so far; 'Wow, David Crosby! You're my hero! 'Oh, you like my music?' 'You're a musician?'
    2) Lisa gets married. 'If only your father was still with us...but he left for work ten minutes ago.'
    3) Praiseland. Even Disco Stu was funny in this one.
    4) Homers Day Off(?) Well, the episode where Homer refuses to go to Church. His final conversation with God is hilarious.
    5) Bart the Shoplifter. I thought this one had real heart - something the show rarely seems to get right is poignancy. This one did it in spades.

Really? I thought that is something the show done brilliantly in their early days, but hey each to their own I guess. :)

It defiantly changed (for the worse imho) when they got new writers and it changed the heart of the show. I have watched a few of the later ones recently and it kind of makes you forget how good it used to be. Reading some of the quotes and episodes here just makes me want to get my season 2-8 DVDs out :D. I guess the later ones will get a new generation of fans who see those episodes first.

I couldn't choose but when it comes to the Simpsons, The City Of New York vs Homer Simpson is probably my fav episode ever, it's incredibly funny.
