Danny Boyle is being tipped to direct the next Bond flick.

You would have thought the producers would have learned their lesson after jumping on the Lee Tamahori bandwagon.

Tamahori was riding high after Once Were Warriors when hired by the Broccolis as is Danny Boyle now.

Do you actually know anything about Danny Boyle other than Slumdog Millionaire?

Once Were Warriors was released 8 years before Die Another Day!

Directed episodes of Cracker, Trainspotting, an Event Horizon rip off & loads of other eminently forgettable films.

In other words he's got a very patchy CV.

Maybe so but he was still riding on its coat tails.

Or should that be skirt hems. ;)

your confusing personal distaste with someone being a bad director. Many other people would rate Boyle highly.

    Your point is moot.

The Broccolis among them it would seem.

Time will tell if they're going to get burned a la Tamahori again.

Time will tell, but Boyle's reputation and filmography far outweighs Lee Tamahori's

Prior to Slumdog they were probably about equal in rep terms I'd say.

If anything Boyle's Hollywood sojourns (The Beach & A Life Less Ordinary) were even less successful.

Nope, no evidence I've seen supports that analysis (of Doyle's rep - I am aware the The Beach is poorly received though).

Also you are not someone who's opinion I hold in high regard anyway

yes trainspotting was very forgettable - im surprised anyone actually remembers it. its not like it was the defining british film of the 90s or anything

i doubt he would do the bond fim - he's already said he wouldnt do another big studio film and he strikes me as someone who does what he wants

    Blimey that's me told.

Taken to task by a pompous snide who can't spell.

For Bond 23 they need to get a proven action director.

They seem to get directors that miss the point of Bond and what he stands for.

Hopefully they will have learned from the mistakes of QoS.

Yeah, because Event Horizon was sooo original...

Sunshine is a Solaris rip off. Event Horizon is a Solaris, Dark Star, Hellraiser, 2001 and Alien rip off.

I think Boyle has already debunked this rumour, hasn't he? I don't think he'd be right for it anyway. The guy who directed Quantum of Solace definitely wasn't right for that. He had previously done slow films like Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball, hardly any action, and yet here he was getting one of the most high-octane Bonds ever.

Event Horizon was deemed original enough for the entire plot to be purloined by Boyle & Garland.

The only thing they ripped from Solaris were pretensions.

This report on Dark Horizons website states that Boyle has denied the Bond rumour:

"A rep later told the site that Boyle being linked to helm the next James Bond film is also untrue - "While Danny says he always has and always will enjoy the Bond movies he has no plans to direct one. Danny is naturally flattered to be thought of""

Other eminently forgettable films such as Shallow Grave, Trainspotting, A Life Less Ordinary and 28 Days Later. So that would be 4 of the best British films of the last 15 years, along with the highly hyped The Beach and massive Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire. If that's what you call a "patchy CV" I'd hate to think what you expect of someone to get a decent one.

Personally I think he'd be perfect for Bond (Casino Royale Bond, not QoS Bond), shame he's not interested.

Whoever it is , lets hope the next one is an improvement on the dreadful Quantum of Solace.
