Head Hunting Radio Presenters from Smaller Stations

I'm just wondering do the larger stations such as Bauer and Global actively tune into smaller independent and community stations and listen to presenters etc, with the view of head hunting?

And if so...How would they contact the presenters? Would the presenter still go through interviews etc?

Thanks.

Usually scouting is done on the smaller commercial stations rather than community. If your at community / student / hospital radio you would probably have get yourself noticed by producing a fantastic showreel.

The method of contact would be phone or email. Remember everyone knows everyone in radio so if you're ready to work for Global / Bauer / UTV / Celedor someone will know how to get hold of you.

The big groups don't tend to recruit presenters using standard interview etc etc methods.

I'd be a chat then a series of pilot demo shows so they can work out what they can do with you.

Then you might be offered something or left as you were with them monitoring you over say 6 months.

    Hope this helps.
