i don't know about benchmarks, but i just had the misfortune to hear her new song avec Michael Bolton, and i think we have to ask why, after however many years it is, she still releases pointless and horrible cover versions?

she's a decent singer if you like that sort of focus-group everything in it's right place vocals, but she still has no artistic identity.

It's not Leona who is releasing the cover, it's Michael Bolton's new album which is full of covers except for 3 songs. He released the same album last year in US with Ain't No Mountain High Enough featured Kelly Rowland and someone else.

This year he decided to release his album in the UK so OBVIOUSLY he asked British singers to feature on his tracks, hence he asked Leona and Sam. The song has NOTHING to do with Leona's career or new album at all.

    Get your facts right y'all

In terms of talent, yes. She is the best singer to have ever been on it. Commercial success, no. That would be One Direction.

I know who I'd rather aspire to be like :)

I'd say Zayn Malik is the best male R&B singer to come out of XF - he's just currently in a vocal group singing pop-rock/folk so we don't get to hear his R&B tone often.

The best non-R&B singers to have come out of the X Factor are Jaymi Hensley from Union J and Perrie Edwards from Little Mix. Both have phenomenal voices and would have been successful if they had applied as solo artists at 21 like Leona did. If Union J tanks Jaymi would do really well in musicals.

Jaymi (sorry there are probably better videos):

There is no benchmark in music. Music is not a competition. You can tap your fingers on your desk and have it called music.

Music is all about perception and interpretation. Do you like it or don't you ? There are people in this world who will use Jedward as this so called benchmark because they like that particular music above all else.

I know!! I heard it the other morning and I am really sorry but it was awful.

Also if she is really serious about coming back, why is she guesting on a album by Michael Bolton!!!

I am sure that Michael as his fans and he does have a really good voice still, but he is not very relevant..

I am sure that someone will come back to say "its all about the music for Leona", which is all well and good, but at the end of the day Leona is still not that big that she can justify releasing stuff that is not going to be commerical! Her record company at the end of the day are all about the money and it doesnt matter who you are, if you don't make them money you will be out on your ear.

Well, obviously, this is about a little bit more royalty money for Leona and her label. If they could have gotten a more "relevant" singer to feature her on his album they would have. I agree that being associated with Bolton doesn't boost her coolness.
