    Agreed.

And some might argue that there are those who see themselves as above the law. ;)

Yep, that HRH Queen is a right pain!:D

You said that the efforts of Anon have resulted in only one paedophile being charged due to their efforts and the police are better at this sort of thing.

I conclude from that, quite reasonably, based on your previous post, that you believe they shouldn't waste their time in their activities.

You even challenge the OP to find more than one successful case therefore (showing your own wikipedia search), again I reasonably assume, you are challenging to OP to justify their efforts!

    I may have misunderstood!

If they want to hunt down paedophiles then let them join the police. Except they won't, because then they wouldn't be able to do all that illegal stuff.

Not entirely sure how that responds to my post or your assertion that I responded to a point you didn't make?

You have so far stated that they have ONLY (my emphasis) resulted on one successful charge of a paedophile in response to the OP suggesting they do great work in their opinion. Now I may be wrong but your response suggests that only one charge does not mean that they effective!?!

The day that we the people start saying that hacking is OK is the day we'll all regret..and you can't pick and choose either.

This Anon crowd aren't doing us any favours.

The way I see it is, yes their methods may be illegal but the fact that they are exposing what they do negates that illegality.

If you knew someone was defrauding 100s of milliions and unless you broke some legislation to expose it, they would continue undetected, then its fine by me.

Breaking the law/rules for the greater good has been the staple of world history since laws began!

    I agree with this 100%

They took dpwn the Westboro baptist church live online. That, in itself, only earn praise. At least from me.

in general, I admire their work. They have positive ideals and I can only support that.

    I'm 50/50, don't know enough about them.

    I like their poetry though.

It goes to prove that when anyone says your details are safe with us are not being truthfull there is to much personal DATA held by to many people.Millions of bank details can be stored on 1 DVD which is frighting when you think about it.They are proveing nothing is safe. Remember we were told chip and pin the best and could not be beaten who wrong they were

I think they'll cause more harm than good. Anonymous seems to be mostly comprised of script kiddies and their main tactic is to just overload webservers or deface poorly secured sites (the ACS Law breach was due to someone mistakenly posting the database to a visible part of the site, wasn't it?).

I don't think they have any ideals at all and are basically internet anarchists, willing to attack whoever the next bogeyman is, whether Paedofiles, Government, or business.

As far as I know there has only been one arrest of a paedophile thanks to an investigation initiated by members of Anonymous. The police are more effective at doing that sort of thing.

Which is why there's STILL loads of child pornography sites up and running out there. It also takes the police ages to shut a child pornography site/forum down as well. At the rate they're going, loads more will pop up by the time they get one shut down.

I don't think the police are capable of 100% crime prevention, do you?

I would imagine they would shut them down as soon as they find them but I doubt they call themselves anything obvious like childporn.com

If Sky can block illegal live sports streams in minutes , I doubt the Police would take weeks unless they are monitoring who is using them.

Or are bound by legal constraints!;)

If they were hosting child pornography , what legal constraint would there be to hold things up:confused:

Yeah, I think that much is obvious. Just wish the police could get them shut down faster.

The site and the people behind it could be operating in a country which doesn't have any child pornography laws.

I don't know what the laws are in every country on the planet but I do know that a lot of the old warez sites used to operate out of places like russia and parts of asia because the copyright laws there were more relaxed so I expect there are places where child porn can be hosted that don't have extradition treaties with the uk.

I think there are a few of us waiting on that one.

I'll go for Somalia on the grounds they don't seem to have any laws at all.

Japan has very lax child pronography laws I believe! I think its legal to possess it but illegal to distribute it.

A friend of mine was quite shocked at how openly it is viewed by commuters on public transport!

For such a civilised and honourable society, this shocked me!

    Likewise, Russia!

I feel the world is becoming more and more corrupt at the top so anyone who exposes wrong doing is OK by me. The MPs expenses scandal was exposed by methods which were illegal so I think we have to accept a few underhand techniques for the general greater good and that will include anonymous.

I agree with this. I wish them luck.
