Texting America

Hi please could someone advise me on the cost of texting an American mobile number from a UK mobile?
I'm more concerned as to how much it will cost the recipient in America really.
Thank you in advance.

    Receiving a text is free.

On mobile plans in the UK - not necessarily other countries!

To answer the OP - texts to the US are about 30p - exact cost may depend on network.

Which U.S. Networks charge for incoming messages on current plans?

That doesn't actually answer the OP, they did specify:

The answer to which is, it will not cost the U.S. recipient anything if they have a plan that includes domestic messaging.

There is no extra cost to receive an international text.

T-Mobile charge 10 cents to receive texts on pay as you go. So you need to check the network and price plan.

If you get the free "Call Abroad" add-on from EE, calls to U.S.A and Canada are 3 pence per minute, 10p per text. (For prepay anyway).

Reply #6 this thread. Claiming NONE charged was a bit silly

Certainly the major US carriers all charge for receiving texts. Of course many people have plans which have a domestic text allowance. (In the US the allowance covers incoming and outgoing).
It is true that that typically the domestic rate is charged for receiving international texts.

OP, it's best if you check with your recipient how much they would be charged.
