Did say a while ago you would be hearing more of Jonathan Pearce this season!! ;)

Has this anything to do with the fact there is a stronger relationship between BBC and BT?

A few weeks back I think we heard Simon Brotherton for the first time.

makes you wonder, when they do get the fa cup, will bbc use BT's comms for highlights of BT's live matches..

I'm probably way off, but could the BBC be wanting to get their commentators "live game sharp" ahead of the World Cup, and BT offers them that opportunity?

I dont really know. I was told back in early July that Pearce was going to be used!!

    Didn't hear about Brotherton though.

Wilson & Mowbray have been on 5Live recently, Brotherton does 5Live cycling and football commentaries.

Are the BBC just making contracted staff do more work for their wage? Maybe JP has gone freelance?

All R5 commentators do something other than live football games other than Mike Ingham and now he's off 606, Alan Green

Surely not Mark, they have never done that in the past so why do it now.

Another possibility I suppose are the contracts not being renewed to where they work exclusively to the BBC?

I know this is already common knowledge etc and it's already being discussed loosely, but wanted to comment that switching between BTS1 and ESPN, Drury and Pearce; that's one hell of a strong and impressive commentary duo for live European league games.

Add Ian Darke from last night and even Derek Rae you certainly cant say BT are not giving their European coverage anything but the best commentators around.

Apart from Proudfoot Hearing Darke, Pearce, Rae and Drury on the European games is a bit of a change to Bower, Speight, Beck and Farrar. Although obviously Bower & Farrar have been heard on BT. In terms of a four-some line up big difference between a typical BT & last season standard line up.

Have BT been showing all the Serie A games online, as they said they would show 'all 380 games' on their website, or was that just really 'up to 380 games'/

What I can't get is that Pearce was used on a complete bog standard French league game on a day he'd already done a Premier League game.

A - Why would he want to do that

    and

B - Why would BT want to pay him what would surely be a much higher fee than say Speight would demand.

    Doesn't make sense at all.
