Sterling over Lallana was a tough call. Azpilicueta is unlucky but Shaw has been immense for me. Most pick themselves really for me. Koscielny/Mertesacker is a take your pick call really
Yeah i was going to do sterling for lallana but for a lot of the season sterling wasn't playing and was injured. Lallana's consistency just shaded it
Gerrard has been exceptional since his transition, i remember his first game at deeper lying mid was at home to villa and he was absolutely awful, miles the worst on the pitch. think he was subbed at HT, can't remember but rodgers changed something then they managed to scrape a 2-2.

Recency bias may be playing a role with Sterling to be fair! It does skew things though when it comes to these! I mean Ramsey was outstanding before Christmas, if he had that run after Christmas he'd surely be in most teams
Agree Gerrard has been inspirational for the (almost certain) champions
Did you not have De Gea in your top 6 player of the year shortlist?
Na but that's a fair team alright
I did, but thinking about it, there have been quite a few goalkeepers who have been very good this season, and with us having such an abysmal season, it doesn't quite seem right or fair, that we should have a player in any team of the season selection.
So, that is why I went for Howard as Everton have had a very good season, and he has been a key part of that.
So you have gone from De Gea "certainly" deserving a place in the top six players this season to him not even making the bench in the team of the season in the space of a day or so.

As I say it is a very competitive area of the pitch, and on thinking about it some more, it would be wrong to include someone from our team considering the sort of season we have had.
The front 6 really does pick itself. Henderson, Sterling, Silva, Ramsey, Aguero and Negredo have all been excellent, but there's just nowhere to fit them in.
Marshall, Coleman, Cahill, Skirtel, Shaw, Toure, Gerrard, That City midfielder with just the one name (I can't think of it), Lallana, Suarez, Sturridge
Hard to understand why being seventh in the division bars you from having anyone considered for a team of the season. De Gea is a certainty as the best goalkeeper, in my view.

i agree De Gea is a good keeper but i went for marshell as his saves could keep Cardiff up amazing keeper
No big arguments against Marshall. I favour him over Howard.
I am pointing out the fact that someone can think De Gea not to be good enough for the bench in this thread yet pin them as a player of the year candidate in another.

The only player that does come close to Coleman I would say is Baines, both have been very good this season.
