    Greetings everybody.

I've just received the Jethro Off The Wall DVD and the film 'The Conqueror' is on shortly, which has a sad real life ending.

    FILM: The Conqueror
    On: more4 (14)
Date: Wednesday 30th January 2013 (starting in 37 minutes)
Time: 11:20 to 13:30 (2 hours and 10 minutes long)

Dick Powell's historical epic, Howard Hughes' final movie as a producer, stars John Wayne as Temujin, later Genghis Khan, the feared Mongol leader. The film charts his rise to power and his love for the beautiful kidnapped Tartar princess Bortai, who first despises him and then falls for him. The exteriors were shot in the deserts of Utah, which were used for nuclear testing; of the 220 crew, over 90, including Wayne, Hayward and Powell, subsequently contracted cancer.
(Widescreen, Subtitles, 1956, PG, 2 Star)

    Director: Dick Powell
Starring: John Wayne, Susan Hayward, Pedro Armendáriz Jr., Agnes Moorehead, Thomas Gomez, John Hoyt

KJ - it's at times like this when I think what a lucky lady MrsKJ is - if only you were free *sighs* :D

twingle, I love your attitude to your new chap, it's hilarious from my perspective but so frustrating from yours :D I could feel your grrrrrrrr from your posts :D

I've had another work shift cancelled, so I'm at home twiddling my thumbs. It's too hot to go out and do stuff, although I might make a quick dash to the shops later so I can sit in the aircon for a while.

YoungPlum learned a lesson this morning in being careful what you say..... in one conversation she told me she hates Japanese (the language they do in school) and can't wait to give it up .... and then 10 minutes or so later, she reminded me that next year they do a trip to Japan and could she go? The end result being that she is now going to work very hard in Japanese this year and will try to like it! :D

KJ - that sounds delicious, and so easy to prepare! :D

Plummy - how fabby that she'll know at least some Japanese.

Nuffink much is going on in the batcave. I haven't been out in two days, due to being swamped with stuff that needed doing, but I'm heading out shortly... so that's very exciting, for me anyway. :D

I still have to do my bloody tax returns. Today is the last day for on line filing.

Another year gone by. Where did it go? I think I'll phone up HMRC for an extension.

In other news, I saw the most beautiful women, I've seen for a long time, Asian looking, with the most gorgeous long black straight hair you could imagine. I nearly fainted when I saw her.

In yet other news, dad is phoning tonight, regarding a decision on a laptop. I can't make up my mind, but a Dell is looking like a distinct possibility.

    *emerges from the mists*

Helloooooooo, GOWs, with an extra wave for avasgranny :):) *wave*

I have been mostly rehearsing for the BTEC Drama exam coming up next week, making improvements to my work area in time for our next OFSTED visit and (sadly) having my big old tom-cat mate, Arfurr, sent off to the big catnip patch in the sky by my very kindly vet :cry::cry:

I know there are a few cat-people on here so you'll understand me being a big wet wuss about it; it's been even worse because Melony has been upset too. She's worried that the last remaining moggy of four will die too "and then we won't have ANY pets!!!!"
I suspect we may well end up with kittens in a few months, but it's too early in the year for that at the moment so we're having a decent interval and remembering the old boy with affection.

Wind is hideous out here but luckily no flooding and no cyclones(!)

Hugs to all - will try not to be too MIA for a while now!

Oh HM :( huge hugs and sympathies your way and much love. Pets become part of the family no matter what they are and cats are generally around us for a very long time. Hope Melony comes to terms with it too - it's tough when they're little but a life lesson we all have to endure - pants though.

Here I have had some work - woohoo - which has cheered me up somewhat. And talking of tax returns...

:D My reward for getting mine done a few days ago was a letter today advising me that my tax refund has been paid into my account, so right now I love HMRC :D

    Like this 少し梅

Plum, Japan is ace. I've been there three times, for a day or two each time and utterly jetlagged (16 hours each way).

Sure beats a skool trip to France!

She'll learn some manners, and as PlumMum please do your best to have her not be scared of raw fish - it's scrummy.

Also it's the land of Hello Kitty and Nintendo and Gojira ...

Can't you wangle a trip as skool helper? :D

It's all anecdotes, but I'm told Dell consumer laptops don't have the build quality of their business ones.

((Handy)) 3yrs on and I still miss my lovely old boy and girl and still haven't the heart to replace them. I hope Melony is young enough not to be too sad and dwell on it

Thanks all for the sympathy :)

Melony has asked us lots of questions and I've done my best to answer them without using the phrases "put to sleep" or "injection". She finally concluded that she was "Sad but a little bit happy because Arfurr was my friend and he will still be my friend if he is in heaven".

Cat heaven is probably very comfy, with a slight smell of fish... :D
