Im not getting a thing on my 1.2 metre dish
I cleaned connection with LNB recut the wire etc

Tried everything I can think of but Nada

with a 1.2 metre dish , you d think Id hit on something up there !
Could be that the wild winds of feb moved the dish ?
could be the LNB ( 16 yrs old ) is caput ?

1.2m is a "large dish" by UK standards - assuming your are in the UK ?

So it's got relatively narrow beamwidth meaning alignment requires precision, both in azimuth and elevation. It's not like a toy dish that can be set up on a strong bird with little trouble.

Anyway, perhaps you might tell us more about your system and in particular tell us when it was last known to be working.

Is it Motorised - if so, how?

Or does it have a Multi-LNB bracket - if so, which birds?

Are there any DiSEqC switches in use? Are they stuck?

What receiver are you using? Have you proved it's working properly by trying it on another dish?

If I were you, I'd re-cable it and fit a new LNB anyway, otherwise you're just going to complicate matters.

Once that's done, then re-align it from scratch.

That said, as you refer to the February winds, then I'd hazard a guess and say that's the root cause - assuming you've not used it since then?

prob last October when I had it up and running,
I set it by hand and mainly keep it on astra 19.2

Always getting exellent pic quality... prob due to the large dish.

yes Im in UK and the box is technomate

prob a good move would be to buy a new LNB
the latest one might have even more pick up power.

Ive been trying moving the dish with window open, listening

for the sound of some station hitting... but nada

spose in the end Ill have to take the technomate into the kitchen,

run a short cable thru the window, hook the techmate up
to a small tv and at least then be getting a visual as I move
    the dish

any suggestions as to exactly which LNB to go for ?
Ill prob order by phone in the end .

For 19.2E, a toy dish will suffice. Using a 1.2 gains you nothing at all, other than taxing your Receiver's AGC.

It cannot affect the viewed quality provided lock is achieved.

Any cheap Universal will suffice for your needs, but if you ever extend your repertoire, the LNB of choice at present is the Inverto Black Ultra.

Yes , Im kindof thinking that myself, they are pretty
    reliable,
I bought a logik 22" tv about 6 weeks ago, but that went on the blink and is currently back at Curries being repaired ( a 2 week wait so far )

Think Ill hold on till that gets back, set it up near the kitchen window and have some more attempts at finding
    a signal.
With this big 1.2 metre dish I must hit on something up there ...

My quad Inverto Black Ultra has just arrived. £24. I agree that it is most likely the dish has moved , a 1.2m has a narrower beamwidth than anything smaller so needs aligning more accurately.

OP doesn't seem to think/realise that...

    Yep.

The old LNB is likely to have a poor noise figure and may well not be a Ku Band 9750/10600 Universal (Judging by it's age), so on grounds of efficiency and functionality alone, it would be advisable to change it. To keep the old one would be akin to putting a Lawnmower Engine in a Ferrari (I sense an intervention by F1 fans here, saying that that has already happened!).

Toy dish up to 60cm would be more appropriate for 19.2E ;-)

TV only 6 weeks old. Surely a replacement would have been a better choice...

I think you re right, it was a Logik TV which I now
realise is a Curries brand TV

I should have demanded a replacement or the option to
pay extra and go more upmarket.

When I finally get it back it will feel like second hand junk !
