I haven't bought a newspaper in years, but my vote for the worst goes to the Star, because it was (and I'm sure still is) pure crap printed on pure crap paper. It was just the lowest of the low in tabloids.

Didn't come across such intense disliking of the Daily Mail until I got on DS. It's never been much of a seller up here.

Dailymailophobia is very widespread - it's not just the Lefties on this forum. The award laden Newspaper of the Year sells much better outside the run down, crime infested, benefit dependent areas of the country.

I cannot believe the DM has more votes than the Sun - phone hacking, Hillsborough? Plus the DM played a big part in getting justice for the family of Stephen Lawrence.
I'm no fan of the DM but as illustrated above it is nowhere near as toxic as the Scum.

Yes, I did vote for the Express, but I knew it wouldn't get that many votes. There is something really tragic imo about the combination of stupidity (the 114 consecutive Madeleine McCann covers; the hundreds and hundreds of Princess-Diana-was-murdered covers), mean-mindedness (hating immigrants, charity appeals for Africa, unmarried mothers, feminists, divorced women, councils, young people, students, 'intellectuals', comprehensive schools, criminals unless they were beating up feral young people, social workers, probation officers, liberals, radicals, and above all MUSLIMS), dullness and a general air of tired decline. It is a TERRIBLE paper, with none of the humour of the Sun or the knack of the Mail for constructing a water-cooler human interest story.

Yes, the self styled 'World's Greatest Newspaper' really is a vile rag.

It's seen to be cool to hate the daily mail, despite the fact that most of the people that profess to hate the paper never even read it.

Don't phobias generally have no rational basis? I've read more than enough toxic Mail articles to justify my extreme dislike.

    I don't think that's true.

I think the people who profess to hate the DM read it a hell of a lot.
Look at the amount of information they have about it, naming columnists, mentioning past articles.

I really think it provides them with a frissom of satisfaction, bit like dirty sex.
Bit disgusted with themselves, can't stop seeking it out.:D

The DM being online is I think, equivalent of on line porn.
No more shuffling down the newsagents in a long mac and dark glasses.:D

There's no need to seek it out nor is it like porn
Besides - you can't chuck a stick most days in this forums without finding many DM links, the Vixen mostly relied on DM when she was here
besides fi you read it and then find it disgusting etc you are going to remember who wrote the vile piece and what it was about

Well yes, most phobias have no rational basis, apart from maybe Islamophobia. It is of course irrational in the sense that it makes no sense to say The Mail is a worse paper than the Star and The Express (as just two examples) as it is clear to anyone of sound mind that that is absolute bollocks.

But it doesn't stop the hate-filled Left-wingers from saying it. They say a lot of things they must know are untrue.

    Ad hominem attacks now
The left aren't the ones who are hate-filled either or the ones telling untruths

    Standard

It is now free but so repellant that I can't be bothered to read it anymore. Once upon a time I used to buy it.
