Anyone been to Tanzania?

Hello!
I have a friend out in Tanzania, her birthday is a month away. I'd really like to post her some Percy Pigs (I know it sounds silly but she loves and misses them).
I also thought of sending her some money out to treat herself.
Obviously £20 over here would get you something to treat yourself with, and Google says £20 would be 50,000 Tanzanian shillings, but what would that get you in Tanzania? Can anyone help?
Sorry if it's a stupid question!

To answer the title of your thread - yes, I've been to Tanzania on a safari trip and it was stunning.
To answer your post, I have no idea about your friend's tastes or likes.
£20 is £20 - I'm sure she'll appreciate the gesture whether she spends it on necessities or luxuries.

I'd send a gift or US dollars.

I've just seen this site (not sure how accurate it is).

If you look down at the clothing section, it seems that it's not as cheap as many think it would be! The average disposable salary (US$735) seems to be about the same as would expect to see in the UK (if you take away the over inflated figures some get paid!!).

So, I would assume £20 would be the equivalent of £20 in the UK?

Edit: I wouldn't bother sending sterling. US dollars is much easier to exchange worldwide.
