There's a 6 pack of Golden Wonder just staring me down each time I open the cupboard doer above where the microwave oven is sited. The other half got them in the local Spar during the past week so they're still very much out there.

The OP obviously not looking hard enough.

Home Bargain shops have the full range of flavours for 89p for a 6x25g pack and single 45g bags for 20p . BARGAIN !!!!!

Tescos and Lidl sometimes have them on a limited run special offer for 99p.

I sometimes have to slum it and buy Walkers in a low blood salt emergency situation..

Me neither. Seabrook are the best anyway and small shops have those.

Seabrooks are a shadow of their former selves.

They are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Flavour is seriously lacking.

The fire mentioned in the quoted article a few posts back is what did for them. I remember it happening. It took them a couple.of years to get back into volume production and in the meantime Walkers had cornered the market with aggressive advertising. So much so that straight up market competition afterwards meant that Golden Wonder couldn't break back in and the crisp side of GW was eventually hived off to Tayto after a while.

They sell them in Iceland (the shop, not the country) 😀

    That's worth knowing... thanks

I prefered Smith's crisps, which were equally as popular.

Back in the early 90s I used to drive past the Golden Wonder Crisp factory in Widnes on my way to and from work. Now sadly long gone.

The smell was always delicious and you could actually tell what flavour crisps they were making on any particular day!

They used to have the most flavour out of all the brands after Tudor went, now they barely have any taste at all.

Smith's is now merely a brand name used by Walkers.

Does anyone know where I can buy ordinary KP crisps please? Not the snack type, just ordinary crisps. Thanks.

I think Smith's and Walkers were both taken over by Pepsi in the 1990s and were nominally merged. So both are brand names used by Pepsi.

Golden Wonder went bust about 10 years ago. Tayto only own the brand name -- other bits of GW, such as the Pot Noodle brand, Golden Wonder pots etc have been divvied up amongst a number of companies.

They used to be the default crisps sold everywhere but now that position has been usurped by Walkers.

My local garage still does Golden Wonder Sausage flavour crisps :)
