Some Great News if you Read the Independent!

Yes folks, according to Guido (yeah I know), that peerless, towering veritable messiah of the Left is about to return from the political wilderness and back to The Indy after engaging in some extensive ‘retraining’ and bless us all with his leftist pearls of wisdom and socialistic teachings… or he’ll just write some more of his incest themed porno ‘fiction’ again instead….

http://order-order.com/2012/01/10/dirty-hari-returning-to-indy-in-four-or-five-weeks/

I am of course referring to none other than Johan Hari, who lest we forget, is a man who can boast of the support of such luminaries as Sally Bercow and other ‘great’ people, a man who has made himself a laughing stock with his net-based antics, and perhaps most importantly, a man who used the pseudonym ‘David Rose’ on Wikipedia and:

- Edited fellow journalists Wiki pages with false and libellous information to smear them. He did this because these particular journo’s had either had the temerity to disagree with him or simply held opposing viewpoints. The penalty for disagreeing with Johan was potentially having your reputation destroyed it seems. Nice.

- Edited some of his heroes’ pages, such as Polly Toynbee, so that their elitist education sounded decidedly less elitist – presumably to fox the plebs. ‘David Rose’ also made sure that Johan Hari’s enviable background sounded a tad more modest as well!

- Held three way conversations with himself (as David Rose), an unsuspecting and genuine fellow Wiki member plus another female pseudonym/fake account. At one point the genuine person left and Johan apparently engaged in conversation with himself for a time. Hey, everyone’s got to have a hobby I ‘spose!

- As previously mentioned, Johan also got caught (as ‘David Rose’ yet again) writing some extremely explicit ‘incest porn fantasy fiction type stuff’… that’s what happens when you attend boarding school folks!

Let’s be honest, his journalistic career is technically over as he’s quite clearly a raving nutter.

Believe it or not, I wouldn’t normally bother to gloat so heartily over a left wing’s journalist’s professional demise (no, really), but I’ll make an exception for Johan who’s always been a contemptible and arrogant little tosser well overdue for a bit of humbling and (self inflicted) humiliation!

The Indy is welcome to him. 'Dirty Hari' is back!

Still, at least Sally Bercow remains a staunch supporter. With friends like her… :)

I think we can safely assume makara80 doesn't read The Independent- only blogs written by libertarian nutjobs.

Does anybody still read the Indy? I read it for many years but gave up on it three years ago, I just couldn't stomach Hari or Alibhai-Brown any longer.

Well, now you mention it, it is about time "The Independent" changed it's name to something appropriate.

    How about "The Socialist Perspective"?

And of course it's sister "The S".:D

I usually get the Indy and the Daily Mail as that pretty much covers all bases these days. I used to buy the Guardian, but its quality deteriorated to an extent that I found it unreadable.

Given the stuff that's been discovered about News International last year I'd hardly say that Hari was at the top of the list of disgraced journalists. Altering your interviews to include quotes from previous ones is hardly up there with hacking the mobile phone of a dead school girl for information.

The Wikipedia stuff was stupid but if bending the facts to your own interest was a crime than every Daily Mail journalist for the last 30s would have been given the death penalty.

I only read it because the landlord at my local (a good friend) buys it. (Know thine enemy).

I've been trying to convert him to the Times but he's too liberal (bless).

Still it's better than the Gruaniad, which lately seems to have an Express style obsession, with bashing anything Murdoch.

It was good to see McKenzie giving them a knock the other day.:D

I read the Indy, Guardian and Telegraph.

I admit I read the tabloids for the sports pages.

I refuse to read the Express, Star or Daily Mail

It's funny how people think that writing stories in a factual way without a blatant right wing bias is somehow 'Socialist'. Yes, it's editorial and most of it's commentators are 'liberal' or 'progressive' but not all and it's reporting seems to me to be pretty even handed.

And how do you know? Do you actually read the Independent on a regular basis or are your statements just based on what you've been told.

I must admit that I am both a liberal and progressive myself though so maybe I just don't notice the bias. It's funny how we do that - how we are unable to be subjective about things when we agree with them. I can perfectly understand and respect the intelligent arguments of the Right, however I completely fail to understand how any thinking person could read the Daily Mail and not think it was absolute nonsense from start to finish.

Edit: Sorry, just read your post above about reading it in your pub.

OK, just for info: List of left-wing publications in the United Kingdom. The Indy originally described itself as "free from party political bias, free from proprietorial influence". Not any more.

Given I read the Times Mon-Sat (I take the Observer on Sunday for balance) naturally I notice the opposite spin of the Indy. It is clearly left-leaning, so I feel the independant tag is misleading.

Perhaps however I should credit other Indy readers with a little more nouse?:)

MacKenzie is an inane, hectoring bully as anyone seeing his attempts at "reviewing" the papers on Sky will attest - definitely someone living on past "glories", if you can call them that. if I hear him recycling that story about the Sun's phone call to John Major (the "bucket of shit" anecdote) one more time I think I'll kick the screen in...

LOL Are you one of his personas, OP? Here to drum up outrage and hits for the blog! I think I'll check him out then give him a miss if he's as annoying as you make out.

I thought you were going to say they had at last decided to synchronise their website, with their printed editions.

Is any of this of any real interest? I don't really care about who writes for any of these newspapers. Newspapers are pretty much irrelevant now.
