Union J, that was overall a nice performance and a lot better than last week's. Jaymi and Josh, the vocals were good and clean. David's right when he said that the song was messy around the chorus but overall a nice job. It wouldn't have been what I'd have picked for you but the public like you so I'm looking forward to your second song.

Oh yeah! Well folks, this song was chosen by Jackel and let me tell you...we had a list and when I heard this song, this was the one for my boys. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am on how amazing that performance was! You all took your parts to perfection, you all sung with your outstanding harmonies and this audience got up on their feet and they were dancing along with you, this is what I call energetic and uplifting. Awesome job, boys...I'm very proud!

Just some constructive criticism for Union J, good to see that! That's the end of the Partner Choice round, thanks very much to all the partners who helped with the songs :D

A recap of all the performances so far:

1 Jahméne Douglas Run And Tell That Hairspray http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-mJ_KT9lIc
2 Adam Burridge How To Love Lil Wayne http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NqZwx9qVJg&list=PL775FED3ECD14640D
3 Melanie Masson Cry Me A River Aerosmith http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2ttYAv0Auw
4 Paige Thomas Clocks Alicia Keys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv1B_jnYUpQ
5 Union J Outta My Kind Anthem Lights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSvNidujTdI

Next we'll be going onto the ABBA vs Queen theme. Queen has an advantage of one song over ABBA but let's see who the judges think come out on top.

First on Team Queen, it's Adam Burridge with the masterfully named Fat Bottomed Girls

Adam, that had a lot more of an impact on me than your first song, I still don't think it was up there with your best performances, however you certainly gave it some up there tonight. You put your everything into that song and I hope that it was enough tonight, it was good after the first performance to see you having more fun on stage. It hasn't been the best night for you overall, but you definitely ended on the better performance. I feel that overall you have been one the best acts on the show and Connor has picked some excellent songs for you in the past and you definitely deserve to be here at this stage of the competition. Well done and good luck tonight.

Now this is where it gets interesting. Singing a Queen song is next to impossible as no one can do them as well as the late Freddie Mercury himself could. But what a huge step-up from your previous performance. That was alive, full of attack and style. You also gave yourself the chance to show your rocky side and I was so impressed by that. I think you deserve a lot of credit for getting this far, well done Adam.

Adam, Adam, Adam! Talk about a performance! That was absolutely fantastic! The bad boy came out you and stormed that stage this evening. The vocals were great, the staging was great and the performance was energetic, exciting and different to all your previous performances. You seriously rocked that stage. You take risks and you do something different. You have performed two contrasting performances and showed your versatility. Absolutely great performance! Well done. I hope the public continue their support for you and put you through to the semi-final.

Seems like the judges were impressed with Adam's performance of Queen. If you agree, make sure you vote for Adam once the lines open shortly!

Next for Team ABBA, it's Jahmene Douglas with the classic Winner Takes It All

I know Connor has struggled with your song choice this week with the theme and whilst I'm not particularly wild about that song I think it was a good choice for you. It allowed you to show us the power in your vocals and put your own stamp on an ABBA classic. Again I don't think it was your strongest performance in the competition, but this show has been such a big improvement for you and I think you're definitely back in the competition now and are once more a contender. Well Done this evening and good luck with the results.

Jahmene, I know that this theme must've been a real nightmare for you and your mentor. However like David said, whilst I wasn't totally convinced about the song as it wasn't up to where you were on your previous performance, I do commend you for taking a risk with an ABBA song and it actually turned out to be better than I expected. Overall, this was a great comeback night for you, but I wonder if that will be enough to get you through.

Jahmene, we had a last minute song change and I’m glad we did because this was so much better than “I Have A Dream” (which I forgot you already sang on the main show). The vocals were great, you managed to hit those notes and that was an outstanding performances. You have been a great revelation in this competition. You deserve a spot in the semi-final and I’ll be very disappointed if you’re not. The judges said that you didn’t have enough power vocal last week so that’s what I gave you. However, once again they weren’t over keen so I don’t know what to do. Anyway, great performance and I hope you get through tonight.

I just dislike ABBA songs in general - though as I said the song did allow Jahmene to show his power + for Jahmene I think its quite a good pick :)

Note: Imagine the song being sung in Union J's style with George playing his guitar.

    George
In the year of '39 assembled here the Volunteers
In the days when lands were few
Here the ship sailed out into the blue and sunny morn
    The sweetest sight ever seen.

    JJ
    And the night followed dau
    And the story tellers day
That the score brave souls inside
For many a lonely day sailed across the milky seas
Never looked back, never feared, never cried.

    All
Don't you hear my call though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
Write your letters in the sand
For the day I take your hand
In the land that our grandchildren knew.

    Jaymi
In the year of '39 came a ship in from the blue
The volunteers came home that day
And they bring good news of a world so newly born
Though their hearts so heavily weigh

    Josh
For the earth is old and grey, to a new home we'll away
But my love this cannot be
For so many years have gone though I'm older but a year
Your mother's eyes in your eyes cry to me.

    All
Don't you hear my call though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
Write your letters in the sand
For the day I take your hand
In the land that our grandchildren knew.

Don't you hear my call though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
All the letters in the sand cannot heal me like your hand

    George
    For my life
    Still ahead
    Pity Me.

    *Standing Ovation*

Yes Melanie! Another fantastic performance tonight and one that showed just what a great singer you are. You worked the stage and completely sold that song; you have such a powerful voice and have shown over the weeks so many different sides to you as a performer. It is difficult to sing Queen songs and to take on the late, great Freddie Mercury, but you put the Masson stamp on that song and I hope it was enough to see you through to the Semi Finals. You have been brilliant to mentor and whatever happens tonight you can hold your head up high as you reached the final five of this competition. Vote, vote, vote Masson People! She HAS to make the Final 4!!!

    Paige Thomas
I get the themes were difficult this week, but I thought that was probably your worst performance to date and all the potential and brilliance you showed in the last show seems to have slowly gone in this show. I don't think that song allowed you to get across your incredible voice and tone. All acts are allowed a duff show, however I think after that song you could well be in danger of being eliminated from the competition. It was interesting to see you do something well outside you're comfort zone but I'm afraid it just didn't work and I think you will need all the votes you can get tonight. Good Luck.

    Union J
People are going to think I'm completely moody tonight, however I just really didn't get that performance or song choice; for me it was completely forgettable and very bland. I get that acts should take a risk and if they work it is fantastic, however that just really didn't work for me and I'm quite bemused as to why it was picked for you in the first place. You have a strong fanbase and I am a fan of this group, but the song choice just really didn't work. You're first performance worked and it was good to see you try something different, but I think it an unmemorable performance, at this stage you should be coming out here and delivering some killer performances with big moments to drive home people voting for you and it just didn't feel as though you were trying vocally up there.

Melanie, much better than your first performance however it would of been nice to see two different performances because they were both within the rock genre. The vocals were good and strong. Wasn't one of my favourite performances from you but good none the less.

    Paige Thomas

Paige! Another great performance from you this evening. It was different to all your previous stuff and it showed a different side to you. Paige, you get a lot of stick from all the other judges but the public have stuck behind you and I hope they continue too. You deserve a place in the semi final and I hope you get it.

    Union J

Union J, again like last week this song choice has really dissapointed me. It didn't really suit you and was one of your weakest performances to date. I thought the vocals weren't quite up to scratch if i'm honest. I'm a little dissapointed. Good luck with the vote tonight.

Two words Melanie, pure class! Now for some more words, easily your best performance to date. This was a brilliant and a genius rendition of the song as it had just about everything that I expect from you. What a fantastic comeback you have made tonight, you NEED to be back here for the Semi-Final and the public NEED to vote for you, because you deserve it. Well done Melanie!

    Paige Thomas

Paige, I'm not sure if it's to do with the theme, but I don't think this was the right choice for you as it didn't really suited your vocals. I'm afraid to say that tonight was not one of your best and I reckon you could be in danger of going home, but I wish you luck with the votes later.

    Union J

Oh boys, when I first heard this song, I knew that there was a chance to have it made into your style and George's guitar made a long and overdue to return. This was indeed a huge risk for me to take, but what can I say? This definitely paid off as I didn't want to go with a predictable choice. I am definitely most proud of you boys tonight and I want you back here for the Semi-Final, so vote for Union J, folks!

Well, Jacka said something about a group being one of the themes and I've had a look back at the launch thread to find out what it was... well let's just say that we're not gonna be liking it.

Yeah... the results are going to be interesting... I got a sense I was losing an act when both David and Carolynne left as it just felt thats how it was going to go... I really hope Melanie stays :)
