Plasma WXGA panel, 1366 x 768p
This state-of-the-art plasma screen technology gives you widescreen HD resolution of up to 1366 x 768p pixels. It produces brilliant flicker-free progressive scan pictures with optimum brightness and superb colours.
This vibrant and sharp image will provide you with an enhanced viewing experience.
HD Ready
Enjoy the exceptional picture quality of a true High Definition TV signal and be fully prepared for HD sources like HDTV broadcast, Blu-ray DVD or HDVD.
HD ready is a protected label that offers picture quality beyond that of progressive scan. It conforms to strict standards laid out by EICTA to offer an HD screen that displays the benefits of resolution and picture quality of
a High Definition TV signal. It has a universal connection for both analogue YPbPr and uncompressed Digital connection of DVI or HDMI, supporting HDCP. It can display 720p, and 1080i signals at 50 and 60Hz.
Pixel Plus
Uses the power of the Pixel Plus processor to increase
the number of lines and the number of pixels. The result
is razor sharp pictures with incredible detail and depth,
every time from any source.
Progressive scan
Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the
image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead
of sending with the odd lines to the screen first, followed
by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at
one time. A full image is created instantaneously, using
the maximum resolution. At such a speed, the human
eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure.
Active Control + Light Sensor
Active Control is a unique and intelligent way of
optimising picture quality by measuring and analysing
the incoming signal to automatically adjust picture
quality settings. Active Control with Light Sensor uses a
sensor to adjust the picture brightness depending on the
room light conditions.
Virtual dolby surround
Incredible Surround™ is an audio technology from
Philips that dramatically magnifies the sound field to
immerse you in the audio. Using state-of-the-art
electronic phase shifting, Incredible Surround™ mixes
sounds from left and right in such a way that it expands
the virtual distance between the two speakers. This
wider spread greatly enhances the stereo effect and
creates a more natural sound dimension. Incredible
Surround™ allows you to experience total surround
with greater depth and width of sound, without the use
of additional speakers.
By packed tabletop stand
A table-top stand with matching design is packed with
the set.
Smart Picture & Smart Sound
Philips preset modes for Smart Picture and Smart Sound
provide you with direct access via a single key on the
remote control. You can select optimised picture and
sound settings for the various picture modes such as
Eco, Natural, Rich, Multimedia and Personal, and sound
modes such as Movie, Voice, Music and Personal. Do
refer to the DFU for the various picture and sound
smart modes.

Youve forgotten to give us the essential statistic, the price tag ;)

Id honestly either get the 45" Sharp G1DE that can do 1080p with a HDMI input or wait for future screens. Philips havent got a reputation for producing the best AV hardware.

Personally I'd avoid anything that doesn't do at least 1080i. I'd audition so called 1080p sets first to see if they look any better, I belive they just deinterlace 1080i signals since they can't process 1080p signals

Nope. If a HD TV is fed 1080i, it will display 1080i. It doesnt convert Interlaced to progressive because there isnt enough information (interlaced means there is one bit of information per two cycles. progressive means its one per cycle but the cycle is twice as long - hence the word progressive).

All HD ready screens, and most that dont have the DVI or HDMI ports that are HDCP ready (and qualify a TV as HD Ready) will display 1080i as well as 720p regardless of their size.

1080p sets will only be driven (maker wise) by HD-DVD and BluRay. The SkyHD standards are for 720p and 1080i programming, most HD TV makers will build their sets to Sky's HD requirements as thats the market they are aiming at. Thats the reason why theres few 1080p sets and loads of 720p/1080i TVs on the market.
