Apologies for starting a new thread for this, but the other The Late Late Show threads on this forum don’t feel entirely appropriate anymore...
I’m a bit late on reporting this (but I haven’t seen it reported anywhere else on these forums yet), but former host of The Late Late Show – Craig Ferguson, will soon be returning to television with a new programme he’s created, produces and hosts – ‘Join or Die with Craig Ferguson’. It will air on the History Channel early 2016.
This is from the History website: Join or Die with Craig Ferguson features the comedian debating provocative and timely topics in his unorthodox and iconoclastic manner. Each episode features a panel of guests which will include celebrities, comedians and experts, as well as the American public through social media. Topics will include: biggest presidential campaign flop, greatest founding father and which invention was history's greatest game-changer.

Craig Ferguson also currently hosts the syndicated game show Celebrity Name Game.
I really like Craig Ferguson, and this sounds like an interesting format for him. I’m hoping we get to see it on History in the UK. Hopefully the fact that he’s a Scottish comedian might help it getting broadcast over here.

So I might give it a watch to see what it's about.
Craig will actually be over here next week for Christmas and will be attending a concert. I was gonna go, the concert does look good and I like the music but I don't know what I'd say without making myself look foolish. It sounds silly right? I've always wanted to meet him and then he tells you where he's gonna be which is not that far from me and I bottle it lol. One day noentry2k! One day it will happen.
Hopefully the UK version of History will broadcast it over here. If anyone sees it appear in the scheduled please bump this thread so that we can all watch it!
Yes, I saw on twitter that he’s probably going to the Dead Man Fall gig in Glasgow next week. I (very briefly) met him when I was in LA last year, he seemed like a genuine down to earth guy so I’m sure he wouldn’t mind being approached by a fan while he’s over here. I suspect it’s somewhat of a novelty for him to meet a Late Late Show fan in his native land (it having never aired over here).
I agree with everything you said but this for me leads to other issues I have, I'm probably wrong but here is my issues with meeting Craig. First of all I've been a fan for many years so I do want to meet him and would be nice to spend some time with him and ask him questions etc. Secondly the North, East, South, West areas of Glasgow are very different and the West End, where this concert is happens to be Craig's favourite part because he worked in the bars there for years. It's full of rich people. That's where most Scottish actors and entertainers live, i'm not joking, there are parts there where you are literally walking past million pound homes, people pay money just to live there. Most of the schools there are private schools and I know that just by telling you this that i've pretty much just admitted that I don't see myself as being in the same class as them, which i'm not, i'm from the south side of Glasgow which is the working class/pauper end and I'm not ashamed of that one bit but I'm not familiar with that part of Glasgow very well. It's a very money orientated place so right away I don't like going there or want to go there, but he's there and he's said it's his favourite place now there's no way he wont like it. He's a millionaire, the place is crawling with actors and singers and people looking to be the next big thing, it's all arty people, of course he's gonna love it there but then I think of all the times where he's bashed celebrity lifestyles and even with his game show Celebrity Name Game he went out his way a few times to talk about how he prefers talking to the guests because they are real people and he did that many times on The Late Late Show and I'm trying to look at both sides and think is one side part of the act and the other side what the man is really like. I think i'm right in that he's not interested in the rich and famous, and he certainly isn't considered that here......which is why I always thought it might be ok but then I think am I wrong for thinking that way? At least you've met him and you would know by the way he spoke to you and make eye contact. Maybe it's just me and my problems with that part of Glasgow and the rich and famous and those with money basically saying this is our part of Glasgow, we're too good for the other parts and I just don't like it or feel comfortable and Craig's said similar things in the past about not always getting along with people that have money or they flaunt their money but then you think about it and realise.....hes' got plenty of money of himself. I don't know. Probably I'm wrong and everything would be ok.
This is why you should be here noentry2k! You could have came with me! And then if i make myself look foolish you can step in and save the day!
I could introduce you to him, I'm sure he'll remember me (yeah right!).
I was on the Twitter trying to talk to some locals that are going to see if i could tag along but they don't reply to me or follow me back. One of them's the wife of the drummer in Dead Man Fall so I can't say to her, it would need to be someone neutral. I could find plenty of people going to the gig but I'm wanting to meet Craig, I want someone to go who wants to meet Craig too.
Do you think I'm wrong? With my opinions on that part of Glasgow and the people there or do you think rich or poor people don't care what you are and you should be treated the same? That's why it would be good to tag along with someone neutral because then if it is all rich people and local up and coming stars then I wouldn't feel as annoyed and I could join in on a conversation and say hi rather than going in there alone and possibly into the lions den. I'm not saying that's Craig's fault but it's how I'd feel.
I live in London, not Glasgow, so can't comment with any type of real knowledge but your whole 'I'm poor so can't socialise with the rich' attitude does seem a bit paranoid. You make parts of Glasgow sound like Downtown Abbey where the 'rich' and 'poor' never shall mix! It can't be that bad can it?
I'm sure there will be people from all walks of life at the gig and you'd be fine. And if anyone there thinks their better than you, sod 'em! They still live in Glasgow after all, not Beverly Hills.
Maybe it's not quite the same but I travelled to New York and LA to see/meet Jimmy Fallon, Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson. Did I feel like a fish out of water sometimes, yeah (not because of how anyone treated me though), but it was totally worth it for the experience.

He was on stage at the gig but nowhere in sight at the venue, i assume he was backstage so I don't know anyone other than the band that met him. He has a beard now too which looks good.
I do like the look of this show, to be honest I didn't know how it was going to be and still don't. I'm assuming the monolgues wont be topical as they will have taped in advance but some of my favourite monologues from him on The Late Late Show were about topics that weren't topical at all and were just his opinions on different subjects so I hope this is where he is headed with them. Is there any news on number of episodes or length of episodes?
16 episodes, 30 minutes each. Due to start on History in February in the US (no news on whether it’ll air in the UK yet).
I really like the look of it, both the same and very different to his Late Late Show at the same time, if that makes sense!
From what I’ve read it’ll be a ‘provocative, unorthodox and iconoclastic’ discussion panel show featuring celebrities and subject experts talking about such topics as - what was the biggest presidential campaign flop; who was the greatest founding father; and which invention was history’s greatest game-changer.
So sort of like his ‘The Late Late Show’, but with guests jointly discussing a historical topic rather than their latest movie. And, unfortunately, no puppets, gay robot skeleton or fake horse.
I think it will be good. It's something different.
Thanks, and it'll air in a late night slot too, so it'll really have a Late Late Show vibe!
Let's just hope History UK pick it up. Do they air most of their US original content? All I know is that they don't air Top Gear US which is one of theirs (and is really quite good).
I've only seen articles from the press conference, no video.
As for the beard - it's unusual. Most people go grey in their beard first, then their hair. Craig Ferguson has a light brown beard and grey hair.
I've also read that Craig Ferguson recently donated a six figure sum to a children's hospital in Aberdeen. They are going to name the critical care unit after him. He sounds like a really nice guy.
I read that too and I can see that making a huge difference to the hospital. I don't know the reason behind why that hospital was chosen, I can't see him just picking one at random. I think if I had that kind of money I would try and help out locally in that way too. I wonder if this will be a regular thing or if he will make his way back over here more often. I know it probably wont happen but it would be nice if he done a show over here or one of the comedy clubs.
I think he was trying too hard with the monologue to be like his previous show.
I also thought some of the contenders were weak. Even if they concentrated on those 6 I can't believe that there weren't other mentions.
Clinton and his oval office shenennigans.
McCain naming Palin as his running mate.
Quayle and his spelling issues.
and he could have has a throw away joke about bypassing Palin because it would take up the whole show.
I also thought being Scottish the Gordon Brown bigotgate incident might have got a mention.
Not much they can do in 20 minutes though.
