I need to find my National Insurance number but I can't find it after moving house recently!
Anyone know how I can find the number out ASAP?
Thanks

Look at "What do I do if I have lost my National Insurance number card?"
Hope that helps.
Luckily I found it already but again, extremely helpful to know!

Me too.. a credit card type of card..still got it!!! ( Does this mean we are old??)
i lost my card like 15 years ago
never needed it...but i know the numbers/letters
Me too. 30 years later also. Would never remember it now, struggle with my PIN number.
Me too but having employed many people over the years, i am the only person I know who can reel if off straight away. So we are a rare breed!
I know the number though. Maybe it just has a nice ring to it which is why it's been easy to remember.
It's partly muscle memory though as it's easier to recite verbally than to type. Not that I still know it all mind. I know about half way through it goes ..69399375105820.. and somewhere around there is 1971. I never use much in the way of memory tricks either. I just store the digits.
Same here, in fact not seen my card in 25 years
I was in the RN and had to use it every week for my pay. I use it as a password as i'm the only one who knows it.
Good idea, woodbush! I will use mine as a password as well, now.
Not sure if thats a good idea, if hacked.
The hacker probably wont know its an NI number but if they did and found your name and address, would they be able to claim for benifits etc.....
Maybe i'm just been silly and its a good idea.
Apart from everyone who's employed you, everyone who has access to HMRC's or the benefits agencies' databases, whoever's got a copy of those CD roms which went missing a few years ago, etc...
However, your local Job Centre Plus can supply your NI Number to you on the spot if you pop in with the usual suitable forms of photo and address identification.
However NI is (in theory) exchanged for future services so it's important to be able to assign the payment to a specific account so that the government can work out how much you're entitled to.
My wife has just been through this. Not that difficult providing you have the information they require.
