Anyone who ever sang any Bob Dylan song sang it better than he did
He wrote some ace songs, Mr Dylan, no question. But he can sing about as well as a dead dog.

He sang as he wrote and felt, others have 'sung his tunes'

I dont know what the description would be but there is a trend at the moment for songs sung by women, (both commercially and in adverts), a slow acoustic version, with a whiny voice, often acapella, it grates on me like nails down a blackboard, I think that singer started it with 'your song', awful

I blame Jennifer Rush for the sorry state of women solo singers today:(

I blame soppy groups like The Corrs and Sixpence None The Richer.

One of my favourite songs is 'tainted love' by Gloria Jones.
Soft cells version was pretty decent, Marilyn Manson's version was a bit crap and the Pussycat doll's version was absolutely diabolical.
One of My favourite covers is Candi Staton 'in the ghetto' - much better than Elvis.

I love his voice. I didnt like Adele doing make you feel my love at all. I dont like many Bob Dylan covers if any at all.

Practically every song that has been featured on the myriad of god-awful adverts that have become so popular in the past couple of years; covered by some insipid, twee, whiny-voiced little warbler; has been one that I was a big fan of.

The utterly awful Nouvelle Vague take pride of place in my bad books for seemingly setting out to destroy every song I love.

One of my favourite songs of all time is To Ramona, sung by Bob Dylan and not the version every one else loves by Sinead Lohan.

    At the risk of heresy...

    You'll Never Walk Alone

A lot of people seem to think it's an original football anthem by Gerry & the Pacemakers :o

That is a beautiful song, it has some of the gentlest words ever put together in it. Some songs just shouldnt be covered.

Just about every cover version of Beatles' songs, even if done by Joe Cocker.

Great singalong pop-rock songs covered by Gleeful ninnies.

    Noooooooo
Dear Prudence by Siouxise is class!
Also Aretha Franklin's version of Eleanor Rigby is ace.

I must admit I like Siouxsie's version, but then I do like Siouxsie.

"SImply the best" Best version I ever heard was by Tina Turner and Jimmy Barnes

The most perfectly blended voices since "Where is the love" Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway

Jimmy Barnes did a fantastic cover of "Throw your arms around me" with Crowded House. I didnt like Crowded House much doing it on their own.

No-one sings "Khe Sanh" like Barnsey.

Even at The Oaks on a Friday night!

"The last plane out of Sydney's almost gone"

    I guess I shouldn't post when I'm a bit home sick.

and The Oaks is in Neutral Bay. I'm planning to be there in February.

Killing me Softly was done well by Roberta Flack, whilst The Fugees made it into something all together worse.

it's not even the ability to sing which is the problem
neil young can't sing for shit either
but the only half decent cover i can think of that adds to neil's version is
st etienne's only love can break your heart
