If it's a who killed Derek plot I will be really angry. I don't mind a who dunnit story but not every few years.

Oh thank God. Hopefully his pointless, inane sprogs will follow suit.

Though I am led to ponder - what did Derek actually ever do during his time on the show? Sure, he's wandered about a lot and looked 'menacing' while getting involved in other people's storylines; but what, of note, has he ever actually done?

If they're going down the whodunnit route, I fear it will be quite a failure. He's a completely undeveloped character and suddenly slapping a quick storyline on him to facilitate a whodunnit isn't going to garner interest in the way Who Shot Phil? and Who Killed Archie? did.

Jamie said in an interview with Inside Soap a few months ago that there was more to come with the Michael/Derek storyline - I wonder how that will be played out along side this?

He's an entertaining character unlike boring Phil, Max and Jack so it will be sad to see him go.

I'm gutted about this I really thought he was a good character and he is the only Branning brother that hasn't had a scene with Jim. :(

Yeah but it would've been good to see Jamie's Derek have a scene with his dad.
It's also strange that Jim's never even mentioned by any of his sons and you would think that Derek would want Joey and Alice to meet their grandfather.

erm this is the daily star, not really a realiable source. i am sure it is true but there needs to be official confirmation not just newspaper speculation.

I swear, I was convinced he'd go - I thought it would likely be New Year, but it's this Xmas - my Xmas will be a lot happier now he's going!

You do realise he's just an actor in a soap don't you?

they are reliable i think. always get it right with big stories/exits. they were right about ben killing heather and sharons return.

Instead of a good storyline like that could have been we get him constantly displeasing Alice and then winning her round again

Also a waste of a very good actor

I think it was because Phil's characters just past it now.
