Reminds me of the time when I was in the presence of one of the nicest in show biz and one of the frostiest.

As I have said earlier on this thread, Gene Pitney was the nicest guy imaginable. Warm, friendly and grounded. On one occasion, after a show, we were in the lounge of the hotel where Gene was staying along with others on the tour - Billy J Kramer, Mike Hirst (of the Springfields) Cilla Black and others that I can't recall right now. Gene, Mike, myself & 2 friends were sitting together when Cilla arrived, Gene called for her to come & sit with us, but she sat on the other side of the lounge, and as each entertainer arrived, she called them over to sit with her. They looked at Gene's group on one side & Cilla's on the other, not knowing who to sit with - but Cilla insisted that everyone sat with her.
The roady said that she had to be the centre of attention and did not like the 'competition' from me and my friend. :rolleyes:Their nickname for her was 'Chilla'. :D

I'm very surprised to read this about Gene Pitney. I was a massive fan of his but found him to be horrible to the people at his concert. Too big a shot to even sign autographs or speak/shake hands with anyone. I still love his music and it did sadden me how and where he died but I did not experience anything nice about him other than his singing. :(

Can believe this. Rod is known to be very, very generous with his time. I used to live near him in Epping and would often see him at the bar in the local pub chatting away to everyone. I've never heard a bad thing about him and he has stayed very loyal to Epping.

He (along with Jimmy Page and Ronnie Wood) helped pay former Faces band mate Ronnie Lane's medical bills when he was suffering from MS. Lane was broke because of a dispute over Faces royalties.

I've met a few celebrities through my job in the music industry. I won't list them all but here's a few:

Carey Mulligan - I met her backstage at the Glastonbury festival in 2013. She was very sweet and pleasant. I ended up telling her how much of a fan I am of the film Never Let Me Go but I just embarrassed myself when she asked if I had read the book that the film is based on, but I hadn't.
Drew Barrymore & Justin Long - I met them briefly backstage at V Festival in 2010. Both of them were really nice.
Imogen Heap - A group of us sat with her at the bar after a gig. She's very tall, very impressionable, but immensely sweet.
Emiliana Torrini, Beth Orton, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Dido, Damien Rice, Ásgeir- All down to earth and friendly.
Lissie - I met her at the Ilosaarirock festival in Finland in 2013. I have to admit that I was crushing on her so much the entire time. We talked a little about bands and singers we both like. I could have listened to her gorgeous husky voice for the rest of the day had I been given the chance :). Very chilled out and amazingly nice.
Kylie Minogue - I met her at the offices of her record label in 2010. She was exactly how you'd expect: tiny, down to earth, no attitude, very friendly.
Emma Stone - I met her very, very briefly in New York City in 2010 when was she was with her then-boyfiend kieran culkin. He didn't say much, but she was sweet and quiet.
Simone Nobili - He's an Italian male model. Cut a long story short, he's a fan of a band that my friend is in and I managed to meet him at one of their gigs in Milan in 2011. A really nice guy, no arrogance like you'd expect with a model. He had a beer with the band before leaving with his friends.
Penelope Keith - Bumped into her (not literally) in London. She was as you'd expect: very well-spoken, gracious and pleasant. I told her that I'm a big fan of The Good Life and To the Manor Born. I don't normally ask people for their autograph, but I asked her to sign two pieces of paper for me and my Mum. Lovely lady.
The Vaccines - I met them backstage at Glastonbury Festival in 2013. Pete Robertson, the drummer, is a cool guy.
Michelle Williams (actress) - I met her briefly at a Shins gig. Sweet, shy and beautiful.
    Rupert Grint - Top guy
Kathy Burke - I strangely bumped into her a few days after listening to her on Desert Island Discs. Very Nice and down to earth.
Anna Faris - I met her when she was filming Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel in London a few years back. She said she was cold and wanted a warm bath. Very nice and talkative.
Daniel Brühl - Reserved but polite
Natalie Imbruglia - Incredibly friendly (must be an Australian thing) and beautiful.

There's many more bands and singers but I won't list them. As for the ones who haven't been very nice (there aren't many):

Lily Allen - Obnoxious and loud. She spent most of the time swanning around backstage thinking she was the big I am.
Max George (I had to look up his name, I could only remember him as the one with the shaved head in the crap boyband) - Tiny guy, very arrogant and into himself.
    Morrissey - First class d!ck.
Kelly Osbourne - Had a face like a slapped arse, spent most of her time talking out of it.
Nick Grimshaw, Miquita Oliver, Jameela Jamil - All three were very smug and into themselves. Miquita was especially rude to one of the crew who was setting up.

I think having followed this thread, I'd run for cover if I saw Cilla walking down the street!

Thanks to this thread I have images of when Cilla does venture out to be among the commoners there's a circle of emptiness around her where people dare not tread, except for the occasional lackey who runs into the circle to powder her nose (or something) before rushing out.

Ok as someone who has met Ms Black many times I can say without hesitation she is the vilest **** I have ever met, I have a story that cannot be told until I hear of her death as she would sue for libel even though its true.

Saw her rip a teenage waitress to pieces over a napkin, was in her and Paul O'Gradys group when they proceeded to humiliate a young actress destined for greater things and yes she is an absolute cow to airline staff and does demand seat 1a when she travels on BA, and yes she was banned by the airline for her attitude.

I have a nice, pleasant enough and **** categories for all the celebs I have met, Black is in the **** section. As for O'Grady his hatred of non socialists is sickening.

Not many will be upset when she shuffles of this little earth.

And yet POG associates with CB and there is no way she is a socialist. Anything but I would have thought.

It must be wonderful to have such strong socialist views when you're a multi-millionaire, live on a farm in Kent, mix in showbiz circles and get all the perks that come with it.

Hearing O'Grady rant the other week about paying 5p for carrier bag showed how sour and opinionated I think he really is deep down. I could imagine that extends to many other things in life.

I like Paul O'Grady largely because of his devotion to animals but he does come across as a bit of a champagne socialist 'trying so hard not to be' sometimes and his relationship with GodCilla lets him down on Brownie points (with me, at least ).

Shame you can't spill the beans on you-know-who, SJR but, yeah, it's probably best that you don't on here for now (much as some of us would just love to know! ;-))
