A cross between 1, 3 and Revelations sounds awful! The worst 3 games in the series!

lol, yeah they probably are (though I liked Revelations, it's an Ezio thing I can't help it) I think he is just referring to the way they handle the historical setting and the story. In AC:III they put Conner at the centre of too many large events, but in Revelations and AC:I it was more of a back drop with a story focussed on other things.

    I agree.
I think the Assassin's need to go back to influencing events in the background rather than running about in large scale battles.

Lets get back to stealthy assassinations.

New trailer for the main story - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmd6sunqfAs&feature=youtu.be

Also a video detailing more on the co-op/customization stuff - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydZBJg_yC2o

I just want to get playing now! Definitely need to get Rogue done first, not least because of timeline purposes, but I just know once I get stuck into Unity, It'll be more noticeable taking that step back a generation. Even the co-op that I was initially hesitant about looks good, especially since those missions can be done solo, although I imagine slightly more difficult.

Just been confirmed that AC Unity will be 900p/30fps on Xbox One and PS4 for "parity" so one version won't look better than the other:
"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff,"

Maybe the PS4 version will get a 1080p patch a few weeks later or something?

I don't usually care about resolution but it begins, I buy a (from a technical standpoint) superior console (which has better game is a different debate) and companies decide to take the easy way out and program for the worst

I'm not hating on the X1 and I do want one, I've said that enough on here already, but if this news is true that they scaled back a better game I'll be truly disappointed and where does it end, what if features are only possible on PS4 will we start to get see worse games just for the sake of parity

I have to be honest, I haven't noticed any difference between both systems.... Both look amazing, it's not worth getting your knickers in a twist over it ...

Interesting way to interpret what was said... Of course, if you include the full quote, you'll find that they have said BOTH consoles are incapable of running the game at 1080p:

    http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/10/06/assassins-creed-unity-locked-at-900p-for-both-xbox-one-ps4

"It's not the number of polygons that affect the framerate," Pontbriand explained. Rather, the tradeoff comes when deciding to keep either a high framerate or convincing AI. He said that they could be running at 100fps if they only had to take into account the graphics, but the AI demands on the processor have moved them to lock the framerate at 30fps on both console versions."

No where does it say "the XBO is inferior, so we're locking it the same on both systems xoxo"

    Also worth noting this:

" the CPU processing the AI in the game while also processing the number of NPCs on the screen presented a bottleneck."

Funnily, the CPU is one of the few things, technically, the XBO has over the PS4: http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/156273-xbox-720-vs-ps4-vs-pc-how-the-hardware-specs-compare

I don't get involved in resolution-gate because, to be honest, I don't give a damn. And long as your happy with what you've got, and it's not spoiling your enjoyment, then to hell with it.

But deliberately gimping one version for an easy time is out of line.

And if the rumours that MS are paying for such an act turn out to be true..... well that's just despicable.

I don't care about resolution as well, I've both systems and I'm happy with both of them...

There's more to worry about on life I suppose than counting pixels, I put the game in, play it and enjoy it....

If you include this quote "We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff," senior producer Vincent Pontbriand told VideoGamer.com

If neither console was capable of doing it better than the other (for reference AC was 900p on both until the PS4 version had a batch making it better) then why would they be locking them to avoid debates, what debates would there be if both where the same to begin with

    Also worth noting this:

"He went on to explain the technical reasons behind the decisions, telling VideoGamer.com that the lock in graphical performance had to do with the console's CPUs and not GPU [...] the CPU processing the AI in the game while also processing the number of NPCs on the screen presented a bottleneck."

Funnily, the CPU is one of the few things the XBO has over the PS4:
    http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/156273-xbox-720-vs-ps4-vs-pc-how-the-hardware-specs-compare

He also said, explicitly, it was not a GPU issue.

Doesn't matter which version is gimped. It shows a lack of ambition. You would think the devs would want the best possible version out there. Really stupid idea.

This sums it up perfectly, there is no way Ubisoft come out of this smelling of roses, even if they patch one to better now or after launch, it still took people getting annoying at them before they decided to make the best art possible

I'm not surprised it's the crowd scenes what's done it. They do look pretty impressive, gimped or not.

In short: I agree with you :)

I do wonder if it is the PS4 version that is inferior. Given there is almost always a bonus mission on the ps versions of Ubi games I would find it odd they would downgrade the ps version.
Not that it matters, I feel this will cause more resentment than having the best version on oneconsole. Which is what they should do.

Except this time around, Microsoft are co-marketing the game and all of a sudden they're worried about parity. ;-)

Thank god they didn't care about parity last year otherwise Black Flag would have been gimped to match the PS3 or 360 version :p

I did post it as a joke earlier when everyone was talking about the parity news, I guess the sarcasm didn't work over the internet :(

I love how Unity is borrowing from the best: You can now stack up missions and not necessarily start them right away a la Skyrim plus there are lots of difference kill upgrades in a way that's very Skyrim. Then there are the heists which is obviously GTA 5 inspired. In fact, even the whole co-op thing is trying to copy GTA5 in terms of the different players with different skills.

I love Arno's outfit from the back the more and more I see it. SO assassiny.... and I love how his brotherhood of Assassins are being *gasp* Assassins. Holding meetings, referring older Assassins, introducing Assassin weapons... And *sniffle* the return of glyphs. Assassin's Creed is back.
