Your username always reminds me of something of a sexual nature, like the saying "smashed your back doors in" for example (oh and "beef curtains" :D)

    Oh stop it.

    The Lovely Bones was fab.

How about an Agatha Christie? 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd' and 'The Moving Finger' are two of my faves. Christie is a bit dated I know, but you like historical settings.

You want "American Psycho" by Bret Easton Ellis.

'Never Look Away' by Linwood Barclay, set in contemporary America/Canada? will keep you guessing till the end. I thoroughly enjoyed that book.

The Lovely Bones was quite good, though slightly twisted but I guess that's what I'm after.

I'm not really into romance, or else I'd buy Mills & piggin Boone

I was a bit disappointed by The Lovely Bones. Great premise but I thought the ending was daft! We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver is a good read or Perfume by Patrick Suskind.

Sometimes I don't always want gruesome, just generally where someone dies. It spices it up a bit. I don't want a romance novel for people to live happily ever after, I want lives to be ripped apart! :D

Fatal Inversion - Barbara Vine - in fact any Barbara Vine books are brilliant.

Stuart MacBride's Logan McRae series has a lot of gruesome murders and a nice line in dark humour.

I just got into Jack Reacher books. They are quite poorly written but really good fun.

How about the Wallander series of novels by Henning Mankell which are readily available på engelska: https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=henning+mankell+wallander+books&tbm=shop

Plenty of dying goes on in those books!

I also have a soft spot for the works of Raymond Chandler as well - plenty of unnatural premature exits there too!

I really enjoyed that series....haven't got around to reading his last one.

Halfhead is pretty gruesome, as well.

It's good, with Logan back in uniform investigating rural crime and then a body is found and DCI Steele appears and is as charming and refined as ever :)

    Sinema: The Northumberland Massacre.

I agree with this, it's a great book...bargain if you get the kindle version.

Having just looked it up again, I see there's a 3rd. book out so have just bought it. The 2nd. one was good too.
