I've watched some of his docs in the past but since getting netflix watched pretty much all of them. He covers a good range of topics and has that odd style, almost like subtly trolling people without them realising. It definitely works though, hopefully he keeps on going! We also need more good documentaries on TV in general, they are few and far between these days.

At his best during his Wild Weekends and when he would spend a weekend with a celeb
But over the years I just got bored of many of them. In recent years they feel less like documentaries and more about coming to a predetermined view.
I also used to find them to be interesting. But now not so much.
Yes, that was the time where I really rated him. I loved the Weird Weekend series of documentaries.
He missed a huge opportunity there. A proper investigative journalist would have not let Saville evade questions so easily.
It's never been Louis style to corner people and hold them over the coals. He has always been pretty mellow and middle of the road so as to let his subjects do the talking.
At least Louis directly asked though. Better than the police and hospital bosses, eh?
He's changed over the years though. His style in the 90's and the more recent ones are quite different.
Depends if you count 11 months as 'ages'.
I agree, but he did not follow it up unfortunately.
Yes. I thought immediately after I saw the Savile one (in 2002 I think) that it was pretty revealing and showed an unpleasant side to him. Nothing compared with what later transpired though, but Theroux did mention allegations of underage sex etc.
In light of events in recent years I'd say that from the Louis Theroux interview Savile came off extremely lightly.
Even more of a shame the authorities didn't dig a bit deeper.
He got Jimmy Saville rattled and got closer to calling him on it than anyone else has ever done. Jimmy Saville was never going to admit it, was he? I think Louis is at his best when he's documenting famous people. Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee was a good one, as was the Hamiltons.
I felt that Savile had the control over the program and that Louis stopped digging. Was he was more worried about losing the show rather than investigating further into what he may have found out.
The only clue came when he backed Gary Glitter over the Computer porn. I also think he could of asked why he was rarely ever on the BBC anymore. Although in hindsight I doubt there is anyone who knew the scale of the abuse.
