    Alcohol will just aggravate laryngitis.
    Your vocal chords and larynx just need rest.
    Whispering is actually worse than speaking - so just write stuff down on a notepad, text, email and just avoid talking for a day or so.
    And inhaling steam will also help reduce the swelling.

    I know that all sounds boring but rest and silence and lots of fluids is really the only thing for this particular nasty.
