I dont think theres any way it can surpass Avatar though - even it did its hardly fair as the re-release/new version is being counted with the original.

As for inflation, it already has, even before the 3D re-release, it surpassed Avatar to become the 2nd highest grossing film ever, first being Gone With the Wind.
