EE-28/3/14- Foxy Roxy's Birthday Bash
Hello DS'rs- its the last episode of a 5-eppy week. What have you all thought so far? Nick's funeral was good- bit disappointed at the lack of any surprise returnees. Thought Ian's speech was pretty good, I'd be the sort of person who would lose the speech hehe.
I think Sharon has been written so much better and seeing her console Dot has been amazing- its exactly what Sharon would do. Good to see her back, now looking forward to a big storyline. Am expecting her to be involved in the Beale storyline this Easter.
So what's happening tonight?[/B

Time to get your brains in gear as its time for the caption competition- usually get a good response to this so thank you so much for taking part
Normally I use a spoiler pic from an upcoming episode but I did find an interesting picture from a few years ago- so I want you to tell me what Mandy Salter is possibly thinking or saying in this pic

So you think you know... The Beales
The Beale family is- as most may know- my favourite family on the square. Having watched the show from a young age, I saw them in their prime- the Pauline Fowler years (my favourite ever character), and later when Ian headed the family. I think it is very fitting therefore that the Beale family is at the center of the 30th anniversary since they were the original dominant clan. Sadly, over the years, their influence and presence has dwindled- not helped by the fact that Ian is pretty unpopular with his neighbours and the family are lacking that strong female presence which is part and parcel of the family. First there was Lou Beale, and then Pauline- at the moment, Jane is the closest person to be a Beale matriarch. She is, for all intents and purposes, still a Beale as she holds that surname and is heavily involved with that family. I had hoped for a long time that Sharon could head up the Beales- she'd be a great matriarch, and would be a fresh direction for her.
The current line up is better than it has been (certainly better than the Ian/Bobby dynamic of 2011- pre Mandy) and am certainly wary of Lucy's death story. She is a Beale with the potential to be a mixture between Ian and Janine in the future. Would have been good. And the fact that only three biological Beales (discounting David, Bianca etc as they rarely associate themselves with that family) shows to me that they need to keep as many on as possible. I have no doubts that this story will be successful, is just a shame to lose s character so deeply rooted in history. And tbh, can't see Peter staying for long.
On another note, if Jane wasn't back, would have been nice to see Mandy back. She was close to Bobby and would loved to see her reaction to Lucy's death. I think Mandy would have been upset and would clash with Denise- plus add a bit of excitement to the Beale household. Might even have gotten on with Cindy.

When Mick receives a phone call about Stan's welfare, he initially claims that he isn't interested. However, Linda convinces him to pay a visit to his father. As Mick arrives, he finds Stan's front door ajar and goes in to investigate…
Meanwhile, Lucy and Lauren have an unsuccessful meeting with the bank, and things get worse when Max refuses to give them a loan. Soon afterwards, though, Lucy reveals that she persuaded Max to change his mind. Lauren is delighted until she discovers that Jake has designed their new website. She quits in protest and Lucy confesses that she lied, but she promises that there will be no further involvement from Jake. Lucy also vows that there will be no more secrets between them, but can she stick to that?
Elsewhere, Ian gets caught up in a moment with Jane and kisses her, leaving her furious. As she leaves, Jane crashes into Max. Jane soon tracks Max down again to make peace with him, but he also misinterprets her friendship. When Dot finds Jane upset at the launderette, she gives her some advice and this prompts Jane to make a decision.
Also today, Ronnie hastily agrees to a birthday party for Roxy at The Vic, as Roxy is upset that she hasn't arranged anything special. Ronnie then makes a suspicious phone call. Later, Roxy gets friendly with Aleks at the party.
Finally, Tina's behaviour annoys Tosh when she puts the party before her, while Johnny appears to have jumped ship from The Vic when he lands a job at Sharon's bar.

Thanks, I really didn't know what to give Johnny. Basically a song about sweet, innocent love:D
I thought it was going to lead to a surprise return but thats now looking unlikely. I do hope thats just not it because otherwise it's a massive non story.
Aw well in that case it fits.
Not too sweet and innocent hopefully!
Just be happy he remembered ;-)
I noticed you snuck a little mention of Mandy Salter in there too
I think it's still not hit you that she has left and is never coming back :D;-):)
Hello everyone
Hey dan, looking forward to tonight's episode?
I am yourself ? You never know what is going to happen these days
Oi, cheeky:p
Thanks Dan
I refuse to believe she has left for good, she will be back:p
Sorry had lectures 9-3 and linking songs took longer than expected
No Phil Mitchell tonight :D
