What medication are you on and why?

I would like to know what medication(s) you are on, and for what reason(s). Is it permanent medication, or just temporary?

Not for any particular reason, but I am curious (nosey) to know which conditions and diseases are present in this forum.

Please tell me about your medications.

Is that the one which makes you put on weight? Or lose weight? Or am I thinking of OVERactive thyroid?

I take Mefenamic Acid for Period Pains, and obviously just take them for a few days a month.

Snap. I used to swallow my Gabapentin without a drink, until one time one opened up after I swallowed it and it was not far down enough, I could suddenly the insides of the capsule and it was VILE!! But I don't take mine for back injury.

I was on gabapentin once it made me sleep for 23 hours a day and the hour I was awake I was tired - I had to stop taking it.

You are very lucky. Before I had to have permanent medication, I would not even have neurofen or paracetamol for a headache, because I believe in fighting things off naturally if possible.

I am bloody terrible at taking my meddies though.

I had a similar problem with Carbemazapine. I slept for 16-18 hours a day, and for the few hours I was awake, I was soooo tired and felt like I hadn't slept for days.

I am ok on Gabapentin. But sometimes they don't work on me.

I very rarely have any medication. I don't even take antibiotics when I am ill. Sometimes I will take codeine, ibuprofen or paracetamol (usually useless) if I have a serious headache, otherwise just water and rest does it for me.

Sometimes I wonder...how the bloody hell would I cope if I was in a really poor country or in a remote tribe or something...how the hell would I cope without my meddies??!

    You are very lucky.

When I consider the illnesses some people have to live with every day, perticularly the conditions old people develop and conditions that can severely affect people, I feel lucky. One time my wife was in hospital with asthma, there was a woman on her ward who spends most of every year in hospital. She was only in her thirties. I don't know if she's still alive. Spending a few days in hospital lying on a bed is boring enough.
I believe in fighting things off naturally if possible.

So do I. Even if I get a severe cold and high temperature and I feel week (which is as bad as it gets), I won't take any medication at all. I hope I never have to take medication.

Me too, I choose not to take anti biotics. When I have tonsilitis/flu, I prefer to fight it off myself.

I'm not on anything. Are all the users here really ill or something? I feel like I've wandered onto the set of "One flew over the cuckoo's nest"
