Does not masturbating give you extra energy?

I came across nofap (so to speak) on reddit earlier today.

Essentially they abstain from masturbation thinking that it makes them healthier and more 'magnetic'.

Has anyone ever abstained for any length of time? I'm tempted to try out of curiosity, but fear it may drive me bonkers.

Heard of people (well, males into weight training) abstaining so they can increase their testosterone levels in an attempt to grow bigger muscles. Don't know if it works.

I went to my doctor's the other day.

She said "Hugh, you're going to have to stop masturbating".

    "Why?" I replied.

"Because I'm about to examine you".

A lot of football teams used to try to make their players refrain from sex (and I presume masturbation) for a couple of days before matches, so I suppose there might be something in the theory. But I can't imagine it made them any fitter, just more frustrated and angry..but perhaps that was the idea.

I thought boxers refrained for a few days as well, to raise aggression.

I think they are expected, in a symbolic way obviously, to **** the opposition instead

Depending on how many times one does it I suppose, I can't see a basic bodily function having any effect on one's energy or magnetic [ whatever that is ] levels.

I had a frap this morning, now in the gym and just beat a pb, I don't think it makes any difference!

if someone abstains then maybe their body "thinks" that you don't need to do it, and then lowers the testosterone level? That's what I would think might happen.

Just remembered something else about it - that at least where I came across it, it was tied in to "no porn".

The theory was that being able to quickly click from movie to movie or picture to picture on the internet had made some men too fussy over what turns them on and what doesn't. If the person or people in the porn weren't perfect to them it's easy to move on to the next one.

At an extreme level this is said to have left some blokes struggling to get it up when it comes to sex if they find that their partner has any physical flaws (in their opinion) or has something not quite to their liking in a physical sense. They're apparently unable to overlook these imperfections. Cutting out the porn was said to help and made them appreciate their partner more.

That kind of assumes that men are the fussy ones.

While there's some evidence that frequent ejaculation may decrease the risk of prostate cancer, I've not heard of any evidence that abstaining increasing energy. In this case, erring on the safe side might actually be more fun.

Boxers abstain from sex for 2-3 months when training. It apparently helps keep legs strong, as well as having more energy.

I was following the "no fap" rule and it definitely helped my energy levels, but it can be very tough because you can get extremely horny on occasions. It's just choosing the right thing to do on those occasions lol.
