Hi all, hoping some bright spark can help me solve a niggling car problem.

I have a Peugeot 406 estate (diesel), X-Reg, high mileage (154,000) which normally runs like a dream but just lately and only very occasionally the speedo cuts out, the car seems to run sluggish for a while but after stopping at a junction everything returns to normal, anyone have any ideas what would cause this, love the car as it's ideal for work and I'm hoping it's not the sign of a major fault.

Cheers in advance! :)

This sounds like the speed sensor is at fault, the speed sensor is located just above the driveshaft on the passenger side on top of a ledge on top of the gearbox.(Diff casing)

Try a new sensor first, if that doesn't cure it then it's probably the control unit for the sensor.

    No problem :)

I hope the sensor fixes the problem.

BTW did you know there is a 406 owners club?
I help out on the site as I'm a 406 owner and specialist....there are lots of very informed people on there who are also very friendly and helpful.
I have a different username on there.
