Anybody here tow a caravan? Wondering what decent alternatives there might be to a Freelander2 td4 HSE which is what I'm hankering after. Fancied an Altea Freetrack but they are out of price range for now!!
Don't believe that you need a big 4x4 to tow. I've used a mid range Volvo (S40 2.0 diesel) to tow a decent sized caravan without issue. You know about weight limits obviously, a torquey (ideally diesel) engine and the right weight balance will do.

He owns a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.0 diesel. Copes with both tows admirably.
God no.
What car do you plan to tow it with, the max towing limit will be on the data plate, normally in the engine bay.
Thats what I'm just trying to gauge - have heart currently set on a freelander but am wondering if a smaller family vehicle would do the job too.
Have a look on this site
To achieve an 85% towing limit you need a car with kerbweight of at least 1710kg.
Remember though that some cars of that weight may have a smaller towing limit.
