There is now a new entrance just off hill Street that properly opened a few days ago as I did check all these things. You walk up some steps and through a walkway.
This took place today. Everything was absolutely fine. I found the station very quick and easy to navigate and it wasn't overly busy. It took only 5 minutes to get to the station from my venue and about that again to get down to the platform. Probably even less for both actually. I ended up a good 10 minutes early for the train which I honestly wasn't expecting.
