GAWD... I didn't realise he was going to apply as well - he is going to irritate me to pieces!

How funny, a friend and I were talking about this just this morning; neither of us like Jimmy already and if you were watching the rounds where he was an observer you would notice that every single time they did a shot of the rest of the top 24 he was always in shot. He's going to get annoying very quickly.

Ugh could Jimmy have looked any smugger when they tasted his stuffed mushroom? He might be this seasons Rose ...

Oh oh I'm embarrassed to admit i like Jimmy. He is someone I remember he has personality and his two dishes are standouts. I like how he engages with all the contestants. Yes he is smug but he is a joy to watch. Cornflakes in duck fat in a mushroom come on that was genius!

I find the dynamics with his sister really interesting. Whilst he is sailing through she is floundering. They were benches away from each other but she still felt intimidated by him. He is throwing her off by being in the same room? Weird.

    It really did. Horrible! :o

Hooray for Jimmy. He's so irritating he might save this series from utter dullsville.

Yay! We have personalities to discuss! Not many yet...but some great moments so far

I like Jimmy  I don't know anything about him and his sister, sohe irritates the hell out of me, why does she have an American accent?

I like Mimi too, she seems really sweet- a bit like Justine from S1?

We need some egos though, maybe a porn tache or two?

Edit : love Nidhi, she's bonkers but could become irritating!

    Evening all,

So who do you think will end up going home tonight in the elimination? I think that Theresa might just pull it out of the bag even though she's never cooked with prawns before (how is that possible?). The guy doing the pasta may have created a rod for his own back as he mucked it up in the previous challenge and seemingly wants to redeem himself by making the dough better this time.

I really don't like Jimmy or Theresa. Also isn't it a tad unfair that two people have strong emotional support around them for as long as they stay in the competition?

You could look at it another way...imagine if Theresa gets kicked off the show it could have an emotional effect on Jimmy and visa versa.

I really enjoyed todays cook off. I do think they got way too much advice from the judges. Theresa may have been kicked out for just making prawns and the cracker but the end result looked great. Charlie got lucky i dont think he put enough ginger in his dessert but because Andy messed up royally (who fries ravioli yikes!) he was the obvious choice.

I'm looking forward to the next episode

I suppose it depends on their relationship - if Jimmy is as controlling as he's coming across it might be a disadvantage for Teresa to have him there. She seems very unconfident so far, which could be because Jimmy is pretty overbearing, and I really hope she cuts out the constant whinging and rabbit in the headlights attitude at the beginning of every cook.

My memory, often faulty, is telling me that one of the early series had a brother and sister who applied but I can't remember if they both actually got in. Daren't look anything up in case I catch a glimpse of something I shouldn't.

I didn't mind them getting advice from the judges at this early stage and at least we saw them all getting advice. Sometimes the edit makes it look as if one contestant is being favoured.

Looking forward to a team challenge so that I can get some idea of who to like! So far I like Charlie and Teresa irritates me but I don't have anyone to compare them with.

I'm glad George has put a bit of weight back on - didn't like the scrawny look.

cika, George looks great now, I totally agree with you - scrawny wasn't a great look for him

Really enjoyed that elimination, the editing was deliberately confusing, Ashley seemed to be cruising until he made that error. Theresa was all over the place at the start, I did like it when the judges had to tell her to shut up :)

Team challenges are when personalities tend to come to the fore and we can really go to town with them :D

Am I the only one who was a bit confused at the high praise Theresa got for her dish ... it was just a salad! Also found the over enthusiastic reaction at her freezing some avocado hilarious.

All three chefs seemed pretty weak, can't imagine the other two actually winning it but I guess it's still very early days.

i suspected they were trying to boost her confidence - she's cooked twice and been frozen and panic-stricken twice. That'll get old very quickly.

Strangely I picked Ashley to go from the start and I'm usually dead wrong.

It sounds funny to describe any of them as 'weak' when you compare them to the whole bunch from some other years but it just shows how the sort of food they're putting has risen. Some of the previous winners wouldn't even get past the auditions now.

Ashley made some very stupid errors with his pasta dish - mostly making a pasta dish. He mucked up his pasta badly in the previous round and wanted nothing more than to prove he could do it - when he should probably have done something else entirely. I think that the main issue was that he didn't have any other ideas for mushrooms!

Theresa was incredibly nervous - she was the same in her audition, fumbling and stuttering - I don't think that her brother being there hoovering up all the air (that won't get irritating at all) is actually helping her at all. I know that some are saying that it's emotional support, but I get the feeling it's actually making her feel even more self-conscious.

always find it a little hard to get into a new series when there are just so many contestants, its hard to keep track of whats going on

from what i have seen so far this series is in line to have the most uses of the word "beautiful" ever

    Hi all,

Just tuned in and watched the first episode of MCA last night. Luckily for us we had series linked so it all recorded as I had not realised it had already started!

Looking forward to drama and meltdowns - hoping there's some kind of :o moment as per Last season's John in the relay challenge - that was truly epic! :D

Just catching up with it now... And Jimmy cannot go soon enough for me. 'Hoovering up all the air' is such a great description Raye... I wanted to throw my IPad at the TV with his tears.

Ashley just had a paaarrrrsta disarrrrsater didn't he.

Agreed. Much easier when it's nearer the end with fewer contestants.

    Jimmy just irritates me.

So glad I am not the only one. I know that they love their MPW week - they have had it for the last few years - but I don't remember it being so early on in the competition.

You've explained exactly my reaction to what went down perfectly. MPW already. Hopefully it gets him out of the way for a while at least...

    How terrible was Cecilia today?

    Starting to really rate Mimi...

I was, admittedly, massively disappointed in Cecilia today - if she talks about her children one more time - she's been there, what, a week? - then I might well start hoping she gets eliminated right alongside smug Jimmy.

    Cecilia, you're breaking my heart...

Mimi has been my pick from the start, has to be joined now by Matt, although his earrings distract me

Niddy is still adorable! She's probably the one-trickiest of ponies, but I would gladly hoover up anything she put in front of me :)

Can't believe I missed the start of this. Do W do any weekend multi-episode catch-up type things?
