In the episode TOW All the Cheesecake, Phoebe meets David outside Central Perk and takes him back to her place. It is explained in another episode (the one where Emily wants Ross to stop seeing Rachel) that Phoebe lives far away from everyone else. Yet when David is getting a taxi to the airport they decide to go all the way back to Central Perk instead of ordering/hailing one at Phoebe apartment.

I still have the same gripe as is usual for me,and that is that that they never played "The one with the free porn" on daytime e4.This episode was one of the best imo, really funny, and a major part of the Ross/Emily storyline so I'm guessing a whole generation has no idea about it.

Do they play it on the new channel?

This was also the episode where Phoebe finds out she is expecting triplets. To anyone who only ever saw the E4 eps Phoebe goes from finding out she is pregnant to knowing already that she is expecting triplets without the viewers getting to see her shocked reaction at finding out for the first time

Me and my gf are watching through all 10 seasons (still). I've watched them all before, but never in the right order :p She's new to it though. She seems to hate Ross :D I don't, but I think she feels the same way about him as I do towards Ted from How I Met Your Mother- the show tries too hard to make you like Ted, but he's generally just a dick.

I'm also noticing now just how bad season 8 is compared with some of the others. The Joey and Rachel thing was just bad in my opinion and did not work at all. They seemed to remove a lot of the gags to try and make it more serious, a bit like the episodes where someone is getting married or having a baby, it can all get a bit too schmaltzy for my taste. Also the episodes where they are just compilations of previous clips are lazy and self indulgent and that early episode with Jean Claude Van Dam in it is just bizarre and kind of boring!

It also annoys me the times they decide to spell good jokes out to you and sort of ruin them. Someone mentioned this recently in a thread on US humour and how UK humour tends to have two stages- the set up and the punch line, but US comedy often has a third stage of making sure everyone knows it's a JOKE in capital letters, and now I am noticing it more and more- like when Joey gets in touch with his feminine side and Chandler shouts at him for turning into a woman and Joey is like; "Why would you say that, that's just mean!" and Chandler says: "What did I say, now I've upset you?" and he's like "It wasn't what you said it was how you said it" :D

All that bit is hilarious, but then Joey follows it up with "Oh my god, I'm a woman!!" and that last bit is unnecessary in my opinion and kind of makes me cringe a little bit. It would have been funnier if they'd just left it deadpan. It's almost like they can't bear their audience thinking Joey could unknowingly be quite feminine at times, for longer than a few seconds, like they'd go off his character or something  I notice so many jokes where they have to spell it out like that, it's kind of annoying.

Having said all that though, I am over-analysing. I've always been a big fan of the show, even when it's not at it's best, it's still streets ahead of most current sitcoms, many of which just badly rip it off, with less likable characters *cough* How I Met Your Mother* cough* :p

Yeah season 8 is dire, similarly in HIMYM season 7 is the worst series when Lily is pregnant. The seasons are both clearly building up to the birth of the baby and get more dull and tedious as they go on as both Friends and HIMYM were trying too hard to be serious

The episode with Alec Baldwin as Parker is the only memorable thing about season 8

Based on the addresses given at some point in the series (not sure which episodes, but they are mentioned in the FAQ on the Friends IMDB page), Phoebe lives a 5 minute walk from Monica.

A couple of lines of dialogue that I always find a bit stupid.

When Rachel's childhood pet dog dies, Ross expresses his surprise that the dog lasted so long by saying 'Le Pooh is still alive?. Which is a bit dumb considering the whole point is that Le Pooh is not alive. I know what his point was, that he was shocked the pet had survived that long, the line just seemed silly in the context and was probably a tad insensitive.

In the Free Porn episode, in the tag scene, the guys are debating turning off the porn because they are starting to question why everyday scenarios don't end up with sex (as they tend to do in the porn films). Joey uses the term 'Woman Pizza Delivery Guy'. Would this not just be a Pizza Delivery Girl?

Yea the "which one are you" line grates on me for the same reasons - and even if Chandler wasn't with Monica there is no way Jack would confuse him with Joey. Chandler isn't just an old friend of Ross's he's the guy who lost a toe in his kitchen, he's the guy they held a grudge against for what, almost ten years? - For giving their beloved Ross weed!!

The line would've worked if it was one of Rachels parents.

The other thing is they did that joke so much better back in an earlier season with Gunter - "I thought you were Chandler... Well one of you is over there."

He doesn't necessarily mean "Which one are you" out of Joey and Chandler though. He obviously knows it isn't Chandler. He might just mean he doesn't know his name.

Completely agree with your first point. It's such an awful line, and like you, I know what Ross meant, but no, the dog isn't still alive, so it's a stupid thing to say.

I actually think the Woman pizza delivery guy line is funny though, it's just Joey being stupid

I cringed when Phoebe stated that she thought co-habiting couples split the cost of stamps, An unfunny and mind-numbingly stupid bit

Regardless of what he means, it still seems a lazy and poor line for a Season 10 episode, given the number of times Joey has been around the Gellers. Numerous weddings, a funeral where Joey and Jack bonded over a football game on a mini TV, several Thanksgivings at Monica's and just the sheer fact he is a close friend of both Jack's children. It just seems ludicrous that Jack wouldn't know him.

It smacks again of a joke where you kind of get the point being made (ie: why on earth would the Gellers and Joey join in on a joint present), but the execution of the joke misses the mark.

He has to say that bit though, because it dawns on him he is becoming a little over feminine.

In the scene where Ross and Rachel are discussing fantasises in the Princess Leia Fantasy episode, Ross is writing something on a note pad. I find it odd that Rachel doesn't pick up on this. What was Ross writing?

I didn't find that odd. Could be notes for work, a reminder of something, a list of things to buy etc...

Potentially, but a funny joke could have been made to start a great scene and people don't tend to write in bed

Would have thought a few did. I know I did when I had something important in uni the next day and I assume that quite a few lecturers do that too. That's sort of Ross' field so maybe he was preparing for the next day for work. I don't know what joke they would have added to include him writing in bed. It's happened on quite a few TV shows.

On the topic of the Princess Leia episode, I have a minor gripe.

It probably doesn't matter now having seen all the episodes numerous times, but it is a bit frustrating that they roll the credits during the tag scene where Ross pictures his mother when Rachel is dressed as Leia, as Christina Pickles is credited before you actually see her make her appearance.

Although you could probably see the joke coming a mile off even as a first time viewer, it does kind of spoil the gag a bit.

    That's a good point.

Just wondering as I can't remember but did they ever credit Maggie Wheeler (Janice) before she appeared on the screen? Eg. especially in S5 in the episode where she was Ross' date and during Rachel's birth? I never noticed, but if they did, that would have ruined the huge surprise.

    Don't think so

In the episode where Ross teaches Chandler the hug and roll technique, why does Janice go to the coffee house to talk to Rachel when no one else except for Rachel is there?

Also Ross getting upset about Ben playing with a Barbie is kind of copied in the Male Nanny episode as in both episodes Ross comes across in a sexist way

I think Ross was just thinking aloud and had no time to be tactful.

And I think Joey uses that term because he's stoopid.

Jack probably doesn't specifically know how many friends are in Monica and Ross's group. Dads tend not to know about the details. He obviously knows who Chandler and Rachel are but how is he to know there is one more guy and one more woman? Plus there used to be Kip so friends could come and go as far as he knows.

Because Joey and Phoebe have previously attended many events with the Gellers, so Jack would remember them

    Ahh thanks.

And with the coffee house one, she probably passed by because she knows Rachel works there and just wanted a coffee on her way. Also, maybe she got it for ffree? As the friends did (as Chandler stated this) so maybe Rachel sneakily gave free coffee to Janice too?.

Maybe he was just becoming senile? They have had hints on that happening on various episodes.

I try to convince myself that is the reason too.

However, as stated above, it just seems a clumsy way of conveying to Joey as to why the hell the Geller would allow him to join in on a joint present.

The line 'Which one are you' would have worked and been funny if Jack had said it sort of dry sarcastically so he was sort of jokingly saying 'I barely know you why would we share'

But the line is badly written and said
