Wages not been paid - HELP!

I recently changed bank accounts and last week I had left my job. I am due to be paid today but no money has gone in at all.

I have contacted my boss...no answer. Tried to ring work...no-one knows the number. I am due to move next weekend and need the money for my deposit. I need the money for bills.

What can I do?

Is your old bank account still open ? Maybe your wages have gone there instead.

If all else fails, you need to go down to your old work and ask them what gives...

If you have contacted Payroll then surely that is the department you need to speak to?

Or is the word in bold meant to be "for"?

If the number for payroll is dead, that seems a bit odd. Can you go down to where you worked in person?

I got the proper number from a collegue. Apparantly there was an outage with power and their lines are playing a record message.

Turns out people have been paid. unfortunately I have not been paid :( Worst case scenario - what do I do?

Was gonna have my leaving do tonight...cancelled as I can not afford to go to Birmingham from Tipton.

Have you not got any savings you can fall back on?

I have no savings at all. The only other money I have is DLA which is a monthly payment of 80 pounds. That wont be paid until the 8th of November.

Your last resort would be a payday loan company

Physically, how far are you from your old employer ?

Can you not ring into reception and explain that you can't get through to payroll ?

Perhaps they have raised a cheque for your final pay, rather than go through the normal system ?

That happened to me when I left my old job, the HR dept there were a bunch of complete incompetents. I contacted payroll and they got a cheque and my P45 out to me in a couple of days.

Try emailing payroll stating your leaving date, any unused leave, your payroll number if you know it etc, and follow up with a phone call as soon as the phones are back up. It sounds like a biggish company you worked for so they're almost certainly not trying to rip you off and it's down to some slacker not filling in the right forms.

I know it's an absolutely horrible feeling, but you'll hopefully get it sorted quickly. Good luck.

If you are owed money and they refuse to pay they are breaking the law:

    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales/e_employer_witholds_your_pay.pdf

if you can get through to your ex-employee payroll department let them know that you have not received your wages yet, hopefully they will know how much etc they should be sending you and can sort out straight away depending on their systems (I do not know they normally send) if they can send via BACS on be Faster Payment (that means in your bank within 2 hours) or maybe even CHAPS payment, please note if they send offer to send you a cheque you will need to wait for it to clear your bank so unless you have an overdraft in place this may not answer your problem.

Give them a call again and see what they can do, if they cannot do anything call one of your banks and explain your plight and see if a tempory overdraft can be put in place to tide you over, good luck hope you get it sorted.

I got through to HR/Payroll.....turns out they cocked up with the payments. For some reason I don't believe £1.2k is enough for a month and three weeks.

I should get a payment into the bank for 4.00 pm. If not, on the phone Monday morning.

Well I cancelled the do and my mate had to e-mail people notfying them it was off. I've done that in case it doesn't happen with the cash.

    Well...it has gone in.

Only £828 :( Surely an overpayment would not be THAT much?

I'm a bit confused you thought you were going to get £1200 but only got £828? You didn't owe them holiday did you?

Was the £1200 a gross figure maybe?

I was told the £1200 was the payment that would go into the Natwest Bank. We (family) reckon, this could go into two parts (the 828 today and the remainder tomorrow or Monday).

    Just very, very odd :(
