BEASTIES the 27th of may is nearly upon us
LETS GET #LETITGO IN THE ITUNES TOP 10
Alexandra Burke" Let it go" released 27th may
Due to the same ol 'boring radio politics, we have decided to utilize the pay it forward method where each of us gift the song to 3 people and those 3 people each gift it to 3 people and so on
Here's a summary of the idea taken from the movie Pay It Forward... http://payitforwardday.com/about/how-does-it-work/ #LetItGo
its dependant upon no one breaking the chain and will cost £2.97 to gift it to 3 ppl....the price of a starbucks coffee more or less..lets do it !
How does it work? — Pay It Forward Day

Many of you may have seen the movie ‘Pay It Forward’ or have read the novel of the same name, a story about a young boy who did 3 good deeds for others in need. In return, all that the child wanted was that they pass on the good deed to three other people and keep the cycle going.>>>WE CAN DO IT!
i can;t see alot of people besides her hard core fans do this
+ you already do this buying multiple copies on itunes and other places where you can buy it (amazon, play....), buying remixes etc etc .....this is nothing new
Musically for album 3 I would say she needs to really do a Beyonce on us. I don't think her problem is really the fact that she does uptempos because we know she can sing, and the reason she steered clear of ballads initially was so people would stop saying her and Leona Lewis were the same. I will never appreciate the ignorance behind that similarity but that's another story.
Is this really true? I used to think this, but isn't it true that Alex actually likes doing upbeat music more ('Bad Boys' was her first comeback song)? I remember her saying that ballads like "The Silence" make her really emotional, and she always says she likes making positive situations out of negative ones. I always thought that Syco forced the '1 out of 2 songs on 'Overcome' being ballads' thing on her, and was probably part of the reason she switched labels.
It's funny because I'm a total ballad-junkie at heart, and the fact that Alex has done killer ballads is what really drew me to her in the first place (so I obviously wasn't thrilled at first with her new musical direction). But I love her as an artist, so will always support her for what she wants to do, and I actually ended up really liking the dance music on HOH because it's based on real things in her life, and many songs are actually pretty emotional. This type of dance music I can appreciate, since even if the production isn't ballad-like, the subjects of the songs are, unlike the 'let's just party for no reason' stuff (aka Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO).

I think it's half true.....but it was Syco's decision to differentiate her from Leona. Alex does love singing ballads, but she has always said that uptempos suit her personality more, and that is so true imo, as Heartbreak On Hold could have easily been a moody dark album full of ballads, but she has kept the subject of that but made all the songs sound upbeat and positive...and it works really well for her imo.
And I agree her ballads are amazing...I love Before The Rain.

To be fair, Alex was lauded on X-Factor for being an all rounder - she owned the stage whether she was singing and dancing or just singing standing still with a mic stand. However, once she won, because of Leona's success (the only other female winner) there was a lot of pressure for her to deliver in the same way. That, and the fact that people then decided to compare them as though they were the same, meant that Alex had to work very hard for Overcome to allow her to be distinguished in her own right, hence the uptempos. Obviously, it did it's job in that sense, but I do believe if there wasn't that pressure to begin with there wouldn't have been such a focus on uptempo music and Overcome would have probably been more balanced. Having said that, I do think her personality is suited well to uptempo music, which is why I'm liking HOH because even though it could be classed as generic, her the infectiousness of her personality is what differentiates it from other dance records. She just needs to make her music even more signature to her by the time album 3 rolls around, uptempo or not.
Thanks for all of the opinions, I guess the Leona comparisons did actually play a role. It's too bad, everyone should just be allowed to be who they want to. But then come the record labels...
I actually think 'Between the Sheets' is my favourite song to come out since 2010 ('I Got You' by Leona ). And I don't just say that lightly, even though I haven't even heard full the version, I'm pretty serious about ranking my favourite songs, and it's so rare for me to get full on goosebumps and actually feel a change in my heartbeat (sounds like the song lyrics ). This song is seriously a treasure.

You've done it AGAIN! MTE! But yeah. Leona's success put silly expectations on her, and she'd just had massive global success when Alex came on XF.

SO - she needs to do a Beyonce. Something of a B'Day kind of album - live instruments, horns, big band, the works! Not necessarily a straight R'n'B transition but a pop sound that can transcend better for R'n'B and adult audiences. Obviously she needs to Alex it out rather than strictly copy Beyonce but that's the kind of sound I'd love to see her adopt. If you think about it, B'Day only had one or two ballads but the songs were so well produced (and B's such a good performer) that she could sing the songs live, dance her ass off and not have the vocals compromised. This is the direction Alex needs to take if she wants to maintain the uptempo route.
Alternatively, it would be good if she had some material like Melanie Fiona on her MF Life album (i.e. This Time/ Change the Record/ Watch Me work - if you haven't heard the album, I definitely recommend, it's amazing). I would actually die if she did a duet with Melanie - their vocals would sound amazing together.
EDIT: To be fair, HOH really sounds like it will be a good album so I don't even think the music is an issue this time round. It's just the crappy team. Blah.
*round of applause!* Yeah I want Alex's choreo to get better, she needs Jaquel knight. The man is a god.
I find it funny actually, because despite their best efforts Alexandra is still going and doing what she does...but I think she does need to make a quick exit to the US for the sake of her career.....the day she announces her US contract/plans officially can't come soon enough
It really does amuse me how a certain Alex hater takes the time to listen to her album sampler. If you hate someone why bother listening and posting about them. ?:yawn:
I don't read Popjustice all that much but are they always this catty? Kudos to the interviewer for bringing up things that Alex gets criticised for (unfairly or not) but even in print it just seems so bloody rude! I don't understand why people were so up in arms about her doing her range of watches for Argos - JLS do a whole accessories collection (which they started before she did) and no-one bats an eye lid! And so what if she promoted it on Argos TV - isn't it endearing that she actually would take on a task that most celebs would be too stuck up to accept? This is what effing frustrates me about the way she is treated - when she's in the tabloids you get all of these cyber a*******s commenting that she thinks she's Beyonce, then she does something rather humbling then all of a sudden she's desperate - ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS! Then the little side note at the end about her mentioning her single release on twitter... sorry but nearly EVERY artist promotes their stuff on twitter, what would really be the point of having one?!
Sorry but with the radio snubbing, and the television shows that don't want her as a guest, to the bottomless shade that most of the dumbass general public are giving her, it's really getting to me that she really has not done anything to deserve the hate she gets but people just viciously pounce. I know every celebrity gets hate from somewhere, but there's a difference between having haters from a fandom point of view, and then having industry forces trying to burn you constantly.
Let's state facts: No she doesn't always get it right, but what human being does? But despite that, Alex is super talented, beautiful, black and has a great personality. The sooner people stop begrudging her for these things and unnecessarily finding reasons to hate her the better.
(Sorry about the rattiness but thinking about it, that interview was really annoying to me and the more I typed the angrier I got *sends an imaginary hitman to Peter Robinson [the interviewer*)
Sounded like they were shading her at any given time....
Not a fan of PJ lately tbh.
Hmmm....I don't know...I never take PJ interviews seriously so I just laugh at them all....I get the feeling Alexandra does the same too....you've got to laugh at people with such delusional beliefs of self-importance....
I know I like to bring this up on a regular basis lol...but the whole Alexandra supporting Beyonce on tour thing...I reckon it could happen now! Beyonce is supposed to be going on tour at the start of next year. Tickets and dates for the tour will probably be announced in the next two months...and Alexandra said we'll be hearing about her U.S plans soon! Just a timing coincidence? Maybe...but I think this really could be it. Beyonce asked her to support her on her last tour, but Alex was recording Overcome so couldn't. Also, I imagine it's a pretty tough gig to get, so probably involved RCA and Alex's U.S label going back and forth having conversations, the U.S label deciding if they can schedule a launch for Alex, U.S label contacting Beyonce's people. It's a lot to arrange and could explain the delays in releasing the first single in the UK...maybe they didn't know if she'd be going to the U.S and wanted to wait until they knew. I don't know, but it just seems very odd that Alex will be making a U.S announcement probably around the same time Beyonce announces her tour info.

Maybe she'll be announced as a support act when Beyoncé announces her tour....?

And also on the 7th of June....Stooshe, Leona Lewis, Adam Lambert and Pixie Lott are also confirmed for this.
