I'm all for people speaking out but it helps when they use facts rather than hyperbole. Everything that comes out of Brand's mouth is nonsense.

It might very well be but to mangle a couple of clichés "I may think you are a fool but will fight for your right to open you big mouth and prove it to all and sundry"

(PS I find him such a turn-off that to be honest I have no idea what he is trying to say)

The irony of this post should not pass unrecognized.

Indeed, anyone who's invested time to watch his YouTube offerings will know quite how ironical it is.

I'm not against social housing. It has a place, and I'd like to see more of it in those places where there is a need.

Bit it is incorrect to think social housing is cheaper than paying housing benefit. And in my view, the cost is exactly why the last two governments have preferred the housing benefit model.

I must have missed the memo went out changing council housing into social housing, we need a move back to council houses with less reliance on private landlords.
There's nothing wrong with someone living there life in a council house and through the years earning a good salary but choosing to rent.. The house will eventfully return to stock.

It is bizarre that some people appear to think that to speak out for someone you have to live the exact same life they do. It's nonsensical.

Mr Cameron and his Bullingdon club chums will be heartened to hear that.:D

This always seems to happen. Anybody who speaks out against any injustice immediately makes themself a target and inevitably gets called a hypocrite by some people. It's pretty much the same thing as the oft-used 'champagne socialist' jibe – and if the person isn't rich, instead they're called envious. It's all a bit pathetic really and reveals a paucity of thinking.

If Clegg says that Brand is a prat I agree with him.

You're so right. Hypocrisy must be one of the most misused terms in the English language!

Agree with lots of others that the charge of hypocrisy has lost all meaning due to Daily Mail stories along the lines of:

'Hypocrite Tony Blair seen Walking Dog After Claiming to Like Cats'

Even in cases of genuine hypocrisy there is no good reason to discount somebody's argument because of their personal life, inclinations or status. In fact fans of logic even have a name for this kind of logical fallacy- it is called ad hominem.

But this is not to defend the loathsome Russell Brand, merely to suggest that his critics will have more success concentrating on the infantile quality of his contribution to political debate.

He is an imbecile (that is ad hominem again).
