How to install printer on Apple i Pad air

The printer I have is not compatible with my wife's Apple i Pad Air so she has ordered a compatible printer which is due to arrive on Thursday.Could anyone advise on how to set it up wirelessly on the i pad.The printer model is as follows.
HP Deskjet 2540 All-In-One Printer
Any advice appreciated.

You don't need to do anything. If the iPad and the printer are on the same wifi network, the iPad will see it.

So as the ipad is on our home network all I need to do is pair the printer with the network and they will find each other.

The printer has just arrived but when I connect it to the power supply nothing happens none of the lights come on.Any ideas

I meant to say that after connecting to the power supply and pressing the on button nothing happens

Duff power supply?

Are you sure the 13A socket works?
Are all the connectors pushed in fully?
