Call me heretic but I saw this ages ago when it came out and assumed the dog was only pulling it off the road as they are carrion animals and it was probably planning on taking it somewhere quiet - to eat.:) Funny how people project human sentiments onto animals. I blame Disney.

Weird. Every dog I've ever known would sooner roll in a carcass than eat it.

I have just watched this & even tho 1 dog gets hurt, the other one doesn't. It is still amazing to watch a animal have such courage.
The story reported in Daily Telegraph.

The dog run over died (at the scene I think) and the other dog ran off.
