Card Sense Jimmy Bond
In 1954 the US anthology series "Climax" came up with a version of Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale" with Barry Nelson as American "Card Sense" Jimmy Bond (so called because of his legendary skill at Baccarat, a supremely dull game requiring as much skill as Deal or No Deal) and Michael Pate as an English Clarence(!) Leiter.
Performed live, it has its share of crappy sets, wobbly acting, flubbed lines, missed cues and a gunshot heard when no one is actually holding a gun.
Even so, Nelson does ok and Fleming's story hold its own. Peter Lorre steals it as the reptilian Le Chiffre (probably the best one to date) and the card game is still quite gripping.
It appears to be in the public domain and is downloadable from Internet Archive.org.

Used to like using it as a trivia question about who was the first screen Bond.
Even better...once they answer that one, then ask them who was the first person to appear on screen as Bond in the official movie series...
Would that be the stunt guy that filled in for Sir Sean on the gunbarrel sequence...? Can't remember his name now.
Instantly more engaging than the latest version of Casino Royale.
That would be Bob Simmons.
And for another follow-up question, ask them which famous gameshow host once played Bond.
Wasn't it Bob Holness, from Blockbusters fame, who played Bond in a South African radio version of a 007 novel (I'm thinking maybe 'Moonraker', but not quite sure)?
Most will go for 'Live and Let Die' in 1973...but...
