Brought in Tracey
I agree with the OP's no.1 though. Killing Viv off is one of the biggest soap mistakes I can think of. Terrible decision.
Moira and James 1 night stand
James
Adam being the son of James
James
James accident not killing him
EMMA
James
James rocking up into town
James
and James.
The only thing wrong with it was that viewers never got to see her doomed attempts to escape (along with Terry).
I had no complaints about her either, although some were very vocal. Turned out to be a case of 'be careful what you wish for'.
Not nearly as pointless as some current ones. Their main point was bringing Nicola back. I do agree about Miles but Anna and Donald were quite good characters.
- Killing off Carl
- bringing in Tracy
Like Emily Symons, wasn't it said at the time it was just a break?!
The casting of the Barton daughters wasn't good.
I know, I think she's a yoga teacher now. They should have tried harder to persuade her to stay! A very watchable character.
I didn't even know Catherine Tyldesley was in the show. I love her
She made a very few appearances as a prison officer when Ryan Lamb was wrongfully imprisoned.
Oh yes, I remember now. Thanks
This post is a bit subtle JoP, you should really make it more clear, say what you mean :kitty::D
I agree that they shouldn't be messed around with the John and Moira backstory, no need at all, especially making Adam James son. Not on.
What else they shouldn't have done:
Brought Tracy back. Why???
Had two reasonably attractive (and more importantly SANE) young women fighting over Sam
Given Viv an insulting funeral for such a long serving character. Jackson got a better one and he'd been there 5 minutes in comparison >:(
KILLED OFF CARL KING! I SAY, KILLED OFF CARL KING >:(>:(
Turned Jimmy into a wimpy, comic character. Give him his teeth back ED!
Ali Spencer. Do I need to say any more.
MAUREL!!! Enough said. >:( (at least she's suffering for it now though )
Had Ashley hitting his dad.
(that's all I can think of for now ...)
Yes, it was hinted it was a break and she got a rubbish storyline. I understand Emily's reasons and way prefer her as Marilyn but Emmerdale could have done it better than sending Louise off to do a modelling competition
Yes yes yes to both of these.
3. Killed off Robbie.
4. Marlon and Laurel
5. Had Jai lock Charity in a box and then never mention it again
6. Have Dan and Ali sleep together. My eyes.
7. Bring Aaron back (*hides from Aaron fans*)
8. Have Megan take Jai back.
9. Everything about Jai.
10. Not have Ross naked more often.
On the whole though, I'd say I was pretty happy. With the exception of the pignapping, that was terrible.
2. Viv and Terry dying off screen
3. Retconning John & Moira to shoehorn in James being Adam's Dad.
4. The reckless destruction of the Thomas family and pairing Laurel with Marlon
5. Writing Nicola as if she was ever capable of killing Donald.
6. Kelly's vindictive involvement in Jimmy's amnesia story (really hated that >:()
7. Zak's mental health issues (mainly due to the suspect quality of his acting).
8. The never ending circle of nastiness that was Paddy, Marlon, Rhona & Laurel over NZ.
9. The original Maceys - Ella, Mia and Dermot - very badly thought out.
10. Dom and Gemma - again no vision for them and not great actors.
Cheeky 11. The Spencers.
The show now however is a vast improvement than a few years ago luckily.
The one thing I will never forgive them for ( and it's probably why I pick holes and slag ED off quite a lot ) is turning my favourite ever character - the lovely, smiley little Andy - into an angry, misogynistic, violent thug.
